So I know the new book has found it's way out early, I'm wondering if it tells us who's a live, who's dead, etc?

Me too, I'm really curious. And what I really want to know is what happened in the 100 years after the spellplague. |

Aha, that clears things up a bit
Anyways, Fzoul is a wuss. He's just lucky Manshoon didn't kill him before the spellplague. Speaking of Manshoon, what happened with them? Do any of the three Manshoons still live? |

Don't forget the clone that was hanging out with Halaster in Undermountain. We really have no idea what happened to that Manshoon in the period after the Mad Mage's demise. There was the other clone that remained with the Zhentarim too -- of which we know nothing. So, along with the clone as the Night King, we know there are/were three "official" Manshoon clones running around. And, as Ed did say, there were actually more than the "official three" Manshoon clones still at large as of 3e. What happened to them in the post-Spellplague period remains to be seen, if at all.

I guess most of them lost their minds or got killed. They are crazy enough as it is blasting each other to pieces because they all think they are the "real" Manshoon. And if even Elmunchkin is mad most of the clones's heads would explode or something during the spellplague. |

They say the following ...
Elminster went from superhero back to being a passive, slightly insane sage and lives in a farmhouse and doesn't want to use magic. The Simbul is still around somewhere in the Dalelands. Currently no known chosen in the Realms. Masks former chosen still live.

Elminster was a superhero?
News to me.
Sure, he had some novels to his name detailing his, err, exploits, but in the setting he was merely a crazy old man. The Sage of Shadowdale and the Simbul's Lustbucket.
I don't understand where this hate for the Chosen comes from.
Crappy DMs perhaps, who can't tell the difference between a powerful NPC and deus-ex-machina? |

The answer from the WotC forum to that specific question (is Manshoon still alive and how many?) was that only one Manshoon was left - I don't recall the post mentioning what happened to the other two official ones.

Well, I did say "as of 3e."
Here's the relevant tidbits from both THO and Ed:-
"Remember the clever words of Richard Lee Byers, at last year's GenCon Indy FR seminar: "In my father's house, there are many Manshoons." In other words, there are MORE Manshoons than 3e lore currently admits (as Ed will reveal in the fullness of time). And I'd say he's far more powerful than Fzoul, because he has fall-back plans and caches and plans set in motion far beyond Fzoul's capacity to anticipate. He may have suffered a personal setback within the Zhentarim, temporarily, but (to quote Ed of the Greenwood, hereafter):
"He's MUCH more cunning and better prepared than Fzoul has ever been. Fzoul always plays the "Hi, God of the Moment, I'm Yours!" card, and that's like juggling a flaming sword: no matter how good you are, sooner or later you're going to get badly cut and burned. My money is always on Manshoon - - and remember, I created Fzoul, Manshoon, and the Zhentarim, but haven't really had the chance to properly tell any of their stories, yet. Just fragments."
To this I can add: don't miss the Best of Eddie book, for a few glimpses more . . .
love, THO"
...
So, obviously, Ed did have some plan for the other official [and not as yet revealed] clones. |

I get that however, I was responding to a question about the 4E Realms in the FRCG
Anyhoo, as I have stated previously, I like the Manshoon Wars and multiple clones running around, however, I just can't see WotC letting them back in now that they have culled them twice (in 3E and 4E) except in story form if it is hinted at rather than said " A-ha! I am Manshoon Prime!, No, I am Manshoon Prime! No, I am Manshoon Prime! etc etc etc. The new game is less convoluted and 'easier' to play, and we wouldn't want to confuse anybody, would we?
I have no doubt that a story from Ed about a Manshoon clone or three would be great, but in 4E less is more (apparently.....), so i can't see it happening (hoping that i am pleasantly suprised of course!)
Just my thoughts

Got the CS today.
Storm is "absent."
Elminster lives in her farmhouse, and Simbul faked her death and lives in the disguise in Shadowdale... not hard to figure out with who.. funny thing though.. the CS doesn't mention Elminster is insane.. I think it's a ploy, like Simbul's death, to be left alone.
And Alustriel just "passed away."
No exact word on Dove, but her family still rules in Shadowdale.
Seems there was a "year of the seven sisters" didn't note the date, but I'm guessing this is wen they all started dying. :(
Edit: Although he's not a chosen, the sidebar for Mithral Hall in the Kingdom of Many Arrows notes that Bruneor "passed away" too. |

1425 is the Year of Seven Sisters. Note that there is no "the" in there; this indicates that it could be any seven female siblings -- especially since at least one was already totally dead and gone (as opposed to dead and still around, which she was for a long time).
There's also a Year of Azuth's Woe -- 1440. Oops! |

I can't say I'm surprised. I don't think any previews actually stated that Elminster was insane, that's just how people interpreted the news about him.

Well, that can't be right, because we know the Simbul is still alive, and a couple of the sisters died before the Spellplague even occured (Sylune and Qilue).
