Finally got around to finishing Turmish so I could post this.

Vilhon Reach Map

Note: All locations are canon, but as usual I've modified the terrain somewhat (in most cases to better conform to source-text). The biggest difference between my FR and the official one is that I have greatly reduced the size of the Sea of Fallen Stars - long before I found out WoTC was doing the same thing in 4e. This allowed me to get all the islands into one long chain, which I found more aesthetically pleasing (and easier to get around).

If you have any questions, please read the text below the map - or feel free to ask me here.

Enjoy --- Mark

Edit: Oh yeah... I gave Chondath more room. I did that before I knew there was a good historic reason for it to smushed into such a confined space.

Strangely, this also probablty lends itself to the 4e maps better.

Very nifty; I've downloaded it but won't have time to properly peruse until after Gen Con.

So Markus,

Is it your intention to give us a big, poster-size map of Faerun if (not meant in a bad way, you yourself have mentioned that you have trouble finishing projects; it is something many of us, myself included, suffer from) you ever finish?

Thanks,
Hawkins

I like it. I've been running a game that's in Turmish and is centered around the Lake of Drifting Stars. My only complaint would be the size of Turmish, but that was a 3E change and I'm assuming you're keeping as close to 3E maps as possible. (personally, I use the 2E size because I want the space, otherwise I'd feel a bit crowded with what I've wrote for the campaign)

Good work though, as usual. I'll probably use it as a reference for when I get around to having a civil war erupt around my players. ;)

I have added room to other countries, such as Cormyr and Chondath, but I usually try to keep the size as close to the official 3e one as possible.

The one and only exception to that personal rule wherein I went in the other direction is Halruaa - it had a lot of open land for a nation of wizards, and I 'tightened it up' just a wee bit, allowing me to make some interesting changes to the jungle directly to the west.

Note: Although both the forest and Bog didn't appear on any earlier maps, both were mentioned in text. There should be at least one more small forest to the west of Ironcloak (wedged between the hills and mountains), but I think the map was already cluttered enough, and that forest was never named, just alluded to, so I let it go. Also, those cliffs around Jathrins Jump were part of the towns lore, so I included them as well.

Hope you find this useful --- Mark

Definitely useful. I working with a black and white printed map from the 2E boxed set. ;)

But yeah, from what I've gathered most of Turmish has forest or light woodlands. I know there's a forest to the south of Alaghon from the Jewel of Turmish but the position was quite vague. Worked out for my own campaign (not that any of my players are versed in realmslore, but it was nice anyhow) since I've described the trip from around Gildenglade to the coast as wood covered hills.

Anyhow, hopefully I can find some of my hand drawn maps to get some digital images of up here, mainly to show off a bit, I'm pretty happy with my skills at hand drawing maps (well, on grid paper, but still *g*).

Regardless, well done, I was hoping to see a Vilhon Reach from you but I didn't want to start hounding ya. ;D
