Hi fellow scribes,
Dear moderators, feel free to move or even to delete this topic if it is out of subject.
The matter : The sage's signature changed. I don't know when, but it changed.
Dear Sage, you wrote within you sig about an upcoming Candlekeep's Guide to Forgotten Realms FAQ. What is this ? Is it descrbed somewhere on the forum or in the website ? I did not find it. Please explain to us what does it deal with.
Have a good day.

Ah yes, that!
Well, the simple fact is, it's actually sitting third on my "Infamous List of Things to Do For Candlekeep." I've been slowly working on and off for the last three years, patiently compiling a variety of replies, responses, and input from both authors and designers relating to a comprehensive number of FR frequently asked questions. I've also chatted with those same few authors and designers time and again, in an attempt to secure a little extra info, or just to clarify some of their earlier responses, or even just to gain access to some answers for potential FAQ that may eventually pop up in the future [likely, once 4e begins and scribes start looking back at the older lore for inspiration]. Basically, my intention is to have the work replace the existing FAQ hosted here at Candlekeep [as I recall, that particular listing is no longer maintained by Tom Cullen].
With the coming of 4e FR however, and the changes visited upon the Realms due to the impact of the Spellplague, I've now realised that I have an opportunity that I didn't have before. And that is, the Spellplague itself serves as a handy breaking point between the older Realms, and what's coming with 4e. In other words, I can finally work on "finishing" the FAQ as it pertains to the 1e/2e/3e Realms campaign setting. Since there isn't likely to be any further pre-4e FR material published officially, beyond what Ed may post here, I now have a definitive scope to work with in terms of what I can answer.
Right now, I'm looking to have the first section, which will include FAQ on the Cosmology, Deities, and the like finished by the time the Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide is released in August. I'd like to follow up with successive sections in a quarterly fashion after that.
So, there you go. You're about as up-to-date on the progress of my FR FAQ as you can be at the moment. |

That "Infamous List of Things to Do For Candlekeep" has now grown so large that it is exerting its own gravitational field. Small items and children, including Sage and Lady K's own daughter, are sometimes found in orbit around the list. |

The greatest reader/poster/answerer of the keep, his last three years of reading and answering ! What a work ! How many pages do you think this directory will count ?

Thanks for the scoop Dr Sage. |

Thank you, but I certainly wouldn't consider myself the "greatest" answer-man here at Candlekeep, not when we have the likes of Krash, Schend, and Ed also posting in the same Forum.

At last count, it was well over 100 pages. I'm intending on trimming that down though, through both creative page-setup restructuring and alternate font schemes of varying [re: small] sizes.

I'm certainly no Doctor, I can assure you. But I appreciate the thought.
It's easier just to think of me as a humble old sage doing his small part to help others in their quests for Realmslore. Or, better yet, think of me as "that guy with the Candlekeep list-thingy and who never seems to get anything done." |

Heh. It's the Calishite Dancing Girls I've really got to watch out for. They're wild!
Of course, it would also make my work so much easier if the Lady Hooded One would simply schedule her "midnight" visits to my private chambers, at some time earlier in the evening. At least that way, I'd probably be able to get some REAL work done.

Happy belated? bday, Sage.
If there's ever a FR theme park the best of the CDGs run the festhall.
I second Fillow's interest in such a doc. Besides being a helpful resource, as a new scribe, it'd be intriguing to see what makes the FAQ (i.e. what questions continually cycle through). |

There's no specific date for release as yet. I doubt it will be anytime soon. I've got Gen Con plans for next month. And I'll be working over in the east of Australia from September to October later in the year. So that will likely result in both my absence from here and from my resources for this project.
I should be able to work out a rough release date after all that. |

And betwixt now and then, a few dozen more items will be added to the ever-growing to-do list. It has now grown so large that even Oghma doesn't know what all is on it. |

I do. He's still got a bump on his head from where he fell over when he passed out!
... Of course, it did give us some free time with the Calishite Dancing Girls, so I'm all in favor of him doing it again! |

Worry not Fillow... it hasn't been cancelled. I must've indirectly deleted the info from my sig when I added the bit about my blog. I'll get around to correcting it eventually. |
