Where is Jyordhan originally detailed? I heard that he's in Scouring of the Land, but I'm looking for details of him taking the throne.

There's a few bits in the "Campaign Book" of the Ruins of Zhentil Keep boxed set as well:- pgs. 18, 19, 29, and 46.

quote: Jyordhan the False Lord
Aumry was assassinated by Zhentarim agents, who in turn were captured and killed by the warrior Jyordhan, who presented himself as the new lord (with the Pendant gripped in his hand), and was so acclaimed by the people. Unknown to most of the people at that time was that Jyordhan was also an agent of the Zhentarim, and the entire proceedings were a hoax.
Jyordhan abandoned the Twisted Tower, instead establishing himself in Castle Krag east of Shadowdale. His court was soon overrun with agents of the Black Network. When the people revolted, Zhentil Keep sent peace-keeping forces to maintain Jyordhan’s rule. Sylune, now aware of the deception but a firm pacifist, sought to keep the Dale healthy and intact during Jyordhan’s evil rule.

I've got a PC that is looking for a background for a character adventuring in 1340 in Phlan. I came up with this:
You’re from Shadowdale. It was once ruled by Lord Aumry and Lady Sylune (known as “the Witch of Shadowdale”). Lord Aumry had always been good to your family. Your father is a skilled craftsman and horse trainer, but also ingenious in his knowledge of metallurgy.
All this changed the night that Lord Aumry was slain by zhentarim agents. Those men were killed by Jyordhan and he has taken the throne. You had met Jyordhan before, and he was an unpleasant man. He had asked your father to make him a sword, but after stabling Jyordhan’s horse for him, he returned to say that he had to refuse the request. Jyordhan was both annoyed and confused, but left in a huff.
When word spread through town about Jyordhan having apprehended and slain the assassins, your father had you pack your belongings, and depart. He gave you a blade that he had spent particular care in forging. From what he explained it is made of a special metal called Hizagkuur.
The night you left, it was cold and particularly moonless. You were nearly out of town when you heard a woman’s voice call out to you by name. You stopped and she came out of the darkness to speak with you. She pressed one hand on your shoulder and the other on the hilt of the sword you had slung across your back.
“Darling boy, I’m not sure you’re ready for this world. It is so dark. But maybe, maybe the world’s not ready for you yet, either.” She smiled at you sadly and you could finally see her face. It was Lady Sylune. You felt the sword warm on your back and pulse three times, before returning to normal. “Best be on your way, lad, your destiny awaits.” She looked worried as you left.
You were traveling north along the road, and it was mostly quiet. A band of men were traveling south, and while you moved off the road to keep a hidden, they spotted you. You couldn’t outrun them, they were on horseback. They quickly caught up to you and while you made a good showing for yourself, you were soundly beaten.
You saw by the markings on their shields that they were Zhents, soldiers from the north. Their captain took your sword and left you bleeding in a ditch.
As they were preparing to move on a rider came to meet them. You heard him say something about them being late. They apologized, but did not explain that they had been held up using you as sport. The man was angry, saying something about not having all night. He had word for the High Imperceptor and he did not have all night to send it along. You are almost positive that it was Jyordhan’s voice.
You followed the men all the way to Zhentil Keep. You’ve taken a few jobs around town, looking for the men, but it was several months before you saw him again. You were working on the docks when you saw the sword your father crafted on the hip of the Zhent from the patrol that night.
He was boarding a ship. You could not manage to get aboard, but you found out its destination: Phlan. You were on board the next ship headed there.
(It’s non-magical, but it’s masterwork (+1 to hit) and does +1 fire damage, +1 electrical damage. It’s whatever blade-type you want. And, Sylune did … something to it.)

Wow, I really like that history! |
"Instead of asking why we sleep, it might make sense to ask why we wake. Perchance we live to dream. From that perspective, the sea of troubles we navigate in the workaday world might be the price we pay for admission to another night in the world of dreams." --Richard Greene (letter to Time) |
