Nope, I just didn't find Ed Gentry's prose bland, his protagonist unengaging, and the dialogue stilted. I do seem to recall thanking you for you substantive criticisms back when I was trying to be serious. If not, thanks. Hopefully, in the future, I will be able to do better. But I think you long ago stopped trying to be helpful. If I've totally misread you, I think that says more about your writing than my reading comprehension.

As an aside, has anyone here had to respond to a spouse's query of "What are you doing?" with "Arguing with Karzak?"

"And you're Ozzalum?"

"Yes dear."

Now imagine how stilted that is.

Well, I read the Prologue... and liked it! I happen to like the subject matter (Untherite Pantheon), so I may be a little biased there. I have no idea yet if it pertains to the story (which others claim it does NOT), but I liked it just the same.

If you want to read a non-pertinent preface (thats what that first page excerpt in a lot of novels is, right?), try reading the one from Bored of the Rings. The 'excerpt' does NOT even appear in the novel at any point! Talk about your 'cheap tricks'...

Aside from a number of short sentences, the only major nitpick would be starting a sentence with the word "and". Major-league no-no, there. Otherwise, it kept me entertained.

Now... moving on...

No. Is there some reason you seem to be hellbent on getting inside my head and questioning my every motivation? Is it not enough that I've written a bad book? I don't know who or what I represent to you that you loathe so much and I really don't care. Find someone else to skewer.

Hmmmm...

Sorry if I went askew, but I was responding to particular criticisms by giving examples of them in popular culture. I thought it related - my bad.

If Ozzalum invites critique, which I'm not sure he even is, then aren't examples part of the topic?

I'm putting the breaks on here for a little bit while the mod team can discuss what's going on, and how to proceed. Please everyone, take a few minutes to realize that we are trying to be a community here.
