I don't know if I should ask Ed about this...so I thought first I would place this question here for the general boards to answer:

A Demi-Power is Rank 1...and then Gods go up from there.

The Chosen (of various gods) are not deities.

What about in between? Those Divine Rank ZERO folks...do they exist in the Forgotten Realms?

In Greyhawk they were called Hero-Deities...but I thought they had essentially been replaced by Chosen in the Forgotten Realms. Are there any "Hero-Deities" in the Forgotten Realms?

If there are not...I guess my next question would be for Ed:

CAN there by Divine Rank Zero deities in the Forgotten Realms?

Demi powers are Divine rank 0 as per the SRD

quote:
Rank 0

Creatures of this rank are sometimes called quasi-deities or hero deities. Creatures that have a mortal and a deity as parents also fall into this category. These entities cannot grant spells, but are immortal and usually have one or more ability scores that are far above the norm for their species. They may have some worshipers. Ordinary mortals do not have a divine rank of 0. They lack a divine rank altogether.

FR under 3.X did not have to cpmply fully with core rules, not sure what 4th will require.

Chosen do not appear to have a dive rank, however they receieved immortal status. Immortal in the sense they can not die of aging or other nactural causes. Chosen of course is loosly defined but at best it would appear to work out on average they have a Divine Rank of -1

"Small beings can have small wisdom," the dragon said. "And small wise beings are better than small fools. Listen: Wisdom is caring for afterwards."
"Caring for afterwards ...? Ker repeated this without understanding.
"After action, afterwards," the dragon said. "Choose the afterwards first, then the action. Fools choose action first."

I think that the Seven Sisters under this qualify as Divine Rank 0.

Oddly, not Elminster or the rest.

There is Volumvax (servant of Shar) who actually has Divine Rank 0 (see 'Faiths and Pantheons').

That is why I was asking really...the Seven Sisters. It seems that they should indeed be Divine Rank 0 and have the abilities of such a being. Of course so should Xvim, but before he had a chance to be Rank 0 he was already higher than that (because of the rules change).

Ok...will check out Volumvax.

I had thought that the "Heroic Dead" of Tempus' Realm would qualify for this Divine Rank 0; simply because his afterlife is so similar to Valhalla.

Any more input would be great!

Xvim was a divine rank 0 for a while (though such a rank didn't exist in the previous editions, he did meet the criteria), like while he was ruling Westgate. I'd also place Tchazzar as a divine rank 0 (unless he actually has higher, which I don't believe he does anymore). There may be others as well, especially amongst the fey I'd bet there's a few.

Alavairthae, may your skill prevail
