Why not?

1) Shield Dwarf or Gold Dwarf Paladin of Moradin. If taking place around Citadel Adbar, they might have levels in the Hammer of Moradin PrC (Player's Guide to Faerun).

2) Human, Shield Dwarf or (Wood or Wild, depending on the region) Elf Barbarian with levels in the Hordebreaker PrC (Silver Marches).

3) Elf Ranger with Humanoid (Orc) as top Favored Enemy. Might have levels in PrCs like Foe Hunter (Masters of the Wild) keyed to Orcs, or possibly the Deepwoods Sniper (Complete Warrior).

4) Cleric of a Dwarven or Elven deity, likely one with the Protection or War domain. Might end up focusing on healing or buffing spells in order to mitigate orcish offensive capabilities.

5) Rogue with equipment, feats and skill ranks to use subterfuge against the likely dim-witted Orcs in order to make their plans unravel. Also likely would utilize poisons or alchemical substances in order to weaken certain powerful targets in combat.

6) Sorcerer or Wizard who focuses on spells that weaken Orcs, namely make them less able to hit the party in melee combat. Maybe also some spells that can blow them up if they assemble en masse (ex: Fireball, Cloudkill, Horrid Wilting, etc.). Warlocks and Warmages may suffice in this regard. If taking place in the North and a massive horde of Orcs (maybe some goblinoids and giantkin as well) is a major campaign focus, this party member could be a member of the Covenant (as mentioned in The Grand History of the Realms, City of Splendors: Waterdeep, and Champions of Valor) that attempts to sway the Uthgardt Tribesfolk into aiding the party.

Any suggestions?

Have a knight who will shield the sorcerer/wizard. Foe Hunter would be my preferred elf ranger prestige class. Deepwood Sniper would go with any archery class, even if skills are cross class. I would expect orcs to have giant allies by the way. You'll really appreciate having a high-level Hammer of Moradin in that case.

Perhaps. At least I already discussed giants.

On a side note, other classes could come in handy in a pinch.
- Druids could use their Wild Shape in combat or use animal companions like birds or rodents as scouts or spies to root out Orc military formations (or stealthy Orcs used to spy on the party).
- Bards could use duplicity through Bluff or Disguise checks or magic to confuse the Orcs on top of using their music to aid the party in combat. Beguilers (likely of Human, Half-Elf or [above all else] Rock Gnome origin) could pull similar tricks, at least as far as skill checks or magic.
- Monks (most likely Humans, Half-Elves, Half-Orcs or Shield Dwarves) would act as scouts and opportunistic combatants.
- Swashbucklers (usually Humans, Moon Elves or Half-Elves, possibly Lightfoot Halflings or Rocks Gnomes) assist in combat by flanking Orc opponents in a manner similar to a Rogue while also having less difficulty on rough terrain.
- Favored Souls act as spiritual support similar to a Cleric but act more directly on behalf of their deity. In this case, they could of any of the usual player races but on a crusade of sorts against Orcs, acting as more of a buffer and melee combatant where as a Cleric may focus more on domain spells and turning or controlling undead that may be summoned by Orc spellcasters.

I'd like to bring up bards and beguilers. I would postulate the best way to break up a horde is to get the orc tribes at each other's throats. Orc tribes are notoriously unfriendly toward each other. Let the bard or beguiler stir up animosities and blame (by illusions or enchantments) any hostile actions by PCs toward the targeted tribe on rival tribes.
