Posted - 24 Oct 2006 : 14:25:09 I read about a dead magic steel or some such in some Realms fiction. Is there any kind of mechanic or game lore referance to this?
IIRC, an assasin had a weapon forged of it to slay mages. I gather that it offered some protection from magic as well. It may have been in Silverfall? I'm just not sure. |

I imagine it would have a chance of dispelling magic it came into contact with. Perhaps theres a chance it could rob people of memorized spells on a hit.

Posted - 29 Oct 2006 : 22:23:13 There's also a special mythril down in Iltkazar that is immune to magic. They made three gates of it. Dunno whether it's the mythril or some magical enhanchement. |

That may have been the inspiration for the material in the novel. Alas it's quite toned down in 3.5. |

I don't rememebr any "dead magic steel" in any RPG supplement...or novel..but I read Silverfall a long time ago
I think it would be a viable material (mined around Tantras for example) but it may be to unbalancing though...
another explaination is a simple sword enchanted with some sort of "anti-magic" field |
