There is a city named Zuthoehq on the map in Old Empires.
I have not found any other reference to this city.
It is located approximately at the site of Luthcheq on later maps.
It is :
- the same city (this is a double typo)
- a city a little east of Luthcheq
- a city that has disappeared (although it is not shown as ruined on the map)
The first option is my preference.
What do you think about it ?

Easy fix.

In Untheric / Mulhorandi the settlement is known as Zuthoehq in honour of the original founder, Unther in particular likes things to remain exactly as they were and would likely refuse to acknowledge the new name of the settlement derived from a common corruption of Untheric.

Old Empires it is assumed would be written from the point of view of Unther / Mulhorand.

New name of Luthcheq is the time / language corrupted version.

I had missed the reference in Lords of Darkness.

Thanks for your clarifications.

There's a lot of variation between the names on old maps and the names that were printed in text, probably based on misreadings of map labels in their fonts. There's a lot of it in the Old Empires. In this case, Zuthoheq became Luthcheq.

However, the 3e Lords of Darkness adapts this somewhat, stating on page 141 "Zuthoheq, a famous (and deceased) member of the Karanok family." So it could be an earlier or alternative name for Luthcheq based on this person.

No such place. Cartography error. It's definitely Luthcheq.

Given the fact that Zuthoehq and Luthcheq are practically in the same place, and the fact that Zuthoehq isn't mentioned anywhere else -- not even in Old Empires -- I'm comfortable with them being the same place.

Zuthoehq is most likely either a typo, or someone couldn't read what was written on the original map and no one checked the maps before publication.

For an in-setting explanation, I'd say that Zuthoehq is the original name of the place, and it was later renamed to Luthcheq.
