So I was bored the other day and reinstalled BG SoA and ToB. Made a Cleric of Helm, because I've never done the cleric side quests and thought it might be cool, but actually it couldn't hold my interest.
Don't feel like whipping through the game with a Kensai, Paladin or Sorceror again, so I figured I'd do an Archer. A friend of mine did it with an Archer and said it was fun and so far it is. (Although, with a STR and DEX set to 18 with all other stats low and longbow proficiency all the way to Grand Master I'm still doing 1 shot kills like they was nuttin.) But I'm going to stick with it for a bit.
Anyone have any suggestions for whom I should stick in the party with this guy? I'm going to go the Good Guy route again, just because I'm sick of when you have such a hated reputation (like I did with my AWESOME Assassin <--rockin class), you get attacked by randoms like in every friggin screen.
So hit me up with some ideas.

The romances are :-
Female character
Anomen

Male Character:-
Viconia
Aerie
Jaheria

Released modded romances, continuing JC's post are:

Female: Solaufein(b), Chloe(l), Imoen(b), Kelsey, Tsujatha, Edwin, Valygar, Sime(b)

Male: Solaufein (b), Tashia, Kitanya, Kiara, Imoen (b), Sime(b)

and, in BG1 there is a released Coran's romance :)

widens the choice a bit
jcompton Posted - 20 Nov 2004 : 21:17:46
Kelsey is a new NPC, a human male sorcerer, created by me and another modder (Ghreyfain) to expand the range of joinable NPC options in the game, and to provide female PCs another romance option. Kelsey has an original portrait, full voice acting, romance conflict with Anomen, personal encounters, he was the first NPC to have flirting (since expanded to the rest of the Bioware NPCs and included in other romances NPCs)... etc. :) We worked hard.

The link is above, or you can get to the Pocket Plane site (where Kelsey and a bunch of other mods live) in my sig link.

The Kelsey NPC romance allows the PC to become pregnant (player's choice, if you say it, it becomes true) during Throne of Bhaal.

What's that?
I've never heard of the Kelsey thingy (though I got a friend called Kelsey), it sounds cool
jcompton Posted - 17 Nov 2004 : 18:50:47
The only stock Bioware romance that involves an in-game pregnancy is Aerie.

The Kelsey NPC romance allows the PC to become pregnant (player's choice, if you say it, it becomes true) during Throne of Bhaal.

Kelsey's at http://www.pocketplane.net/kelsey .

When I was playing a male character- I always somehow stuffed up the romances- no matter how hard I tried.

Also can the female character romance end in a baby- I've only ended up getting married (he he) Is there anything else that can happen in the female character romance?
DDH_101 Posted - 06 Nov 2004 : 18:01:04
You have the baby like near the end of ToB. She'll tell you she's pregnant and then you go through stuff like giving your son a name. I chose Gorion (I think that was like the only good option).

It does, I believe take a lot of waiting. A whoooole lot of waiting....

Ahem, mmmm, care to expand upon this, jameslt0? Any particular reason you mention Jahira?

Well, I think Jahira is one of the best NPC's. I just really liked her story. I found her very useful in the original BG. I really wanted to play thru romance with her in BGII. I would really like to create Jahira type character for NWN. Maybe for henchmen...I dont know.

But Jaheria's romance story doesn't expand to ToB, does it? On the other hand, I think Aerie's is really good, as you end up having a baby with her at the end.

You can have a baby with Aerie? First notice
DDH_101 Posted - 05 Nov 2004 : 00:14:31
Haer'dalis will eventually try and win Aerie from you. Then it comes down to how you respond to the situation and there will be many consequences. You could either lose or keep Aerie. However, even losing Aerie to Haer'dalis isn't TOO bad, as she later dumps him coz the two of them are too different.
Aleta_Delryn Posted - 04 Nov 2004 : 08:32:38
All the romances should continue from SoA to Tob unless you said something wrong or didn't want one.

The romances are :-
Female character
Anomen

Male Character:-
Viconia
Aerie
Jaheria

Though I've heard that Aerie & Haer'Dalis have a minor fling, as does Aerie & Minsc (Aerie becomes Minsc's witch, but in my experience that only happens with a male character & you've turned Aerie down)
Ryss Firemaster Posted - 04 Nov 2004 : 06:35:15
Yes, Jaheiras' romance does continue in ToB. There's not as much of it as one would have hoped, though. I kept being nervous that something had gone wrong, but since some of the romance dialogues are event-driven rather than the usual 1 hour of game time, there are sometime rather long waits inbetween. I have heard that the other three romances have more to them, but I haven't tried them myself yet.

I hate the fact in NWNs that you've only got one NPC with you/ henchman. I like the big parties where everyone's useful in their own special way (even if that way is annoying)

Also I've made a poll about Fav BG2 characters- there's Anomen, Jaheira, Minsc, Edwin, Imoen & I think Aerie. You guys are welcome to fill that out at your leisure

Well I'm sure that there's always a time to talk & a time to fight- just when it's fighting time- have tones of steel to back-up threats made- otherwise you tend to end up a little short on friends, allies, armies & a little bit dead

Indeed. Without these things to strengthen us, it is hard indeed to thrive. Sure there were times for diplomacy (when we attempted to bribe the Horde, functioning as emissaries to Azoun IV to help secure the alliance of Cormyr to Waterdeep), but there comes a time when a good dustup is neccessary.

Unless it's with Manshoon. Then you just run away.

It was James Ohlen's Forgotten Realms campaign, from which a fair number of the BG NPCs and at least one NWN NPC (Maughrim) are drawn. It was a D&D campaign that ran from about 1990 to about 1996.

Well, the Great Faerunian War and the Greyhawk invasion destroyed a lot of places. Tethyr, the Western Heartlands, the Dales, northeastern Cormyr, Aglarond and Thesk, as well as the Sword Coast were all totally savaged. Rashemen was halfway depopulated by first the Horde, and then Thay. Thay was utterly destroyed, apparently sucked into the Abyss.

Can you remember what happened there?

Well, the Great Faerunian War was almost over. Calimshan and Amn had settled themselves down, mostly at the expense of the western Lake of Steam, Tethyr and the lands south of Baldur's Gate. The Zhentarim had been stopped by a combined force of Cormyr, the Lord's Alliance and the remaining Free Dales, although much of the Dalelands fell under Zhent sway. The Red Wizards had used some sort of magical ritual to summon the tarrasque to destroy the Horde, before our adventure in Eltabbar resulted in the Great Chasm of Thay. However, what with the war, we hadn't realized that ships hadn't been coming back from Maztica for some time. And so we were in Waterdeep, trying to find a way to get Blackstaff resurrected, when these strange ships sailed into Waterdeep harbor, and started shooting the place up with cannons, while a small army landed south of the walls of Waterdeep.

What we eventually realized was that these were ships from a continent in the Utter West, beyond even Maztica. Which was where James had placed Oerik. It was advanced up to the 18th century in terms of technology, so we had to deal with rather irritating amounts of musketry. As I recall, they were actually from the Great Kingdom of Aerdy, but OOC we referred to them as 'The Greyhawk Army'.

In the end, we managed to turn them back by forcing them to fight us in the shadow of Mt. Waterdeep, and then releasing some of the Undermountain monsters from the Deep Levels into them, which routed them, although they established a beachhead by taking Daggerford and cut the Trade Way. And then, to make matters worse, we had to fight the hideously strong and magic resistant cthonic monster that we'd set lose upon the Greyhawk troops, which we barely managed to beat with the help of Malchor Harpell and Savengriff. While we were fighting the monsters back into Undermountain though, we discovered this ancient Netherese ritual spell to bring back Khelben, which we did with a bit of help from the Crazed Venturers, Allustriel and Laeral. And there was much rejoicing, until Manshoon made a deal with the Greyhawk army and we had to infiltrate the new fortress at Daggersford to sabotage firearms that were to be sold to the Zhentarim. But that's a whole 'nother story.

If I remember correctly, Jon Irenicus was one of the main Red Wizards that antagonized our party during the Great Faerunian War. I don't recall Sarevok or Melissan as major antagonists, since our main opponents were the Xanathar's Thieves Guild, the Shadow Thieves, Manshoon and the Zhentarim (god, we hated Manshoon. He was probably the most feared villian we went up against), the Red Wizards of Thay (until, in one of our last sessions before James moved away, Thay was devastated by the Demon of Eltabbar), and in the end, the Greyhawk Army that attacked the Sword Coast. The idea was that we were Khelben Blackstaff's troubleshooting Harper teams, until Manshoon killed Blackstaff, and then we became Malchor Harpell's troubleshooting Harper team. Thus, while those were our main opponents, we would occasionally make shadowruns against pretty much every Harper opponent there was, from the Moonshaes to T'u Lung and from Vaasa to Zakhara.

So the other two might have been there, but I just can't remember them.

Yes. They're both Bohdi. Haven't seen either Bohdi in a while, so I degenerated into spelling it like it sounded, out of old age and forgetfulness.
Aleta_Delryn Posted - 17 Oct 2004 : 12:07:51
I always like the punching one- I forget how it properley goes- I think it's something like "You look, I punch" or something like that. & there was a comment that I've never fully understood "Don't teach my hamster to suck eggs" I've never understood that- expect it sounds pointless

When BG 1 I never had Minsc- mainly caus I couldn't finish his quest to keep him around (there was a problem with my Gnoll Stronghold bit), so I subsitued him for Khalid (mainly caus I wanted Jaheria around)
Daseroth Posted - 17 Oct 2004 : 06:13:02
The one char who i almost always keep in my party is Minsc, your local Miniature-Giant Space Hampster loving lug, he is no slouch in combat and his antics throughout the game are a good reason to keep him around, he always seems to make me laugh with his final battle speach against Irenicus, "Evil! Meet sword! SWORD!!! MEET EEEVIILLL!!!!!!"

lol

Oh yeah, quite a few. Anomen and Keldorn are pretty much unchanged. Yestlick was a phenomally strong dwarven fighter who had 6 specializations in wrestling, and pop-out spikes all over his armor. Xan was a variation on Elrand the Enchanter, although Elrand ended up being very confidant and powerful, but that was when he reached 14th level and thereabouts. Kivan and Skie were part of the other 'team'. Eldoth was with us, but was Neutral Good instead of Neutral Evil, a very handy spellsinger, too. Shar-Teel is what ended up becoming of a character who was originally a paladin, Lady Shar.

From BG2 and it's new NPCs, Valygar, Cernd and Yoshimo are from our group. I can also remember the Vampire Bodi, who was an 18th level thief with the other team who got turned into a vampire, and then decieved the two teams into fighting each other, while betraying us to the Xanathar. We escaped, went on a quest to get a cure for Bodi's vampirism, and then went after the Xanathar, where the newly restored Bodi went nuts and tried to backstab the elder orb through his prismatic sphere by diving on him from the ceiling.

When James Ohlen was designing the game, he used all our old PCs from his long-running, 25-player FR campaign to populate the world with interesting NPCs. So, much in the way that Ed's original Crazed Venturers no doubt feel some interest in the futures and fates of their creations in the canon Realms, I feel some attachment to Mulahey the evil cleric and Rashad the doppleganger/cleric. It's a neat feeling, knowing that a tiny piece of my gaming made it's way into the real Realms.
