Hello All,

Are there any sites with reviews of the Forgotten Realms novels, and maybe story summaries for the popular books.

Thanks In Advance

If copyright was applied in this way, you could never really do a book review beyond "it was good". Most reviews give some sort of book summary, some even quote the source material - perfectly legal as long is it is presented as a quote, and you aren't quoting huge segments such as entire chapters.

So, no, it's not a grey area at all.

Copyright applies to actual text, not paraphrased ideas. Trademark laws would apply, but don't prevent use in commentary.

well, the aforementioned amazon.com puts a brief summary (from the publisher usually) on the site and also allows details to be included in reader's reviews.

I've never thought of it before, but I suppose there might be issues there to be resolved. I'd let someone with more experience on the subject comment.

However, I *have* seen summaries of books (Realms included) out there. I know someone on these boards (Xysma?) was making a summary document of the short stories in the Realms.

Cheers

That's a mystery to me as well.

Is it "shameless" self-promotion if you feel kinda bad about it?

Cheers

Gaspar, you can also find reviews for Realms books wherever you might find novel reviews, and probably your best bet (that I can think of, anyway) is Amazon.

Ghostwalker, for instance: http://www.amazon.com/Ghostwalker-Fighters-Erik-Scott-Bie/dp/0786939621/sr=8-1/qid=1165350338/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-6101150-7787355?ie=UTF8&s=books

And now, I'll run off before Alaundo brings the staff of smiting to bear for the off-site links.

Cheers

Well met

Not at all, Dremvek. In fact a new review was added only last month in the site update. Admittedly, the feature doesn't get much attention these days due to the instant reviewing of products on the forum, but it is still there, should anyone wish to you it.

To submit a review, use the Scribes Desk function.

Dhomal has already provided the link to a list of all reviews which appear on the main site.

Hello-

There certainly are! As a matter of fact - even right here at Candlekeep!

http://candlekeep.com/bookshelf/revindex.htm

I have not penned any of these reviews myself - but many of them are quite informative!

Dhomal
