I am starting to forget the names as I've read just about every one. All i remember is that there is a young man who has joined some evil cult but ends up helping the good characters in the end. Another novel, which may or may not be the same, if i remember has the charactesr in some city that if i remember had a lot of vertical levels. There was a really bad part of the city in which the ground levels were very dangerous. I seem to recall the book starting in a bar with the main character and his large friend. Thanks

It does. You're right

There are elements of duke's initial post that almost make it sound like Venom's Taste to me.

I'm thinking Mistress of the Night not Iriabor myself.

To be honest, duke, the plot you've described can fit a great number of fantasy novels (FR novels included). What city in the Realms doesn't have many layers to it, for example?

Yah must be Mistress of the Night. Thanks a lot. I'm curious about these other novels as i've never really heard of . an older series? I've read every new novel but a few older ones have escaped me (only read 2 of azure bonds). Hard to find, i found once around the realms featuring Volo in an incredibly old bookstore hidden in a back corner. Thanks again though all.

I dunno, I thought of the Undermountain book when he mentioned several levels.

Well met

I was thinking the very same earlier, scererar. I think it was the mention of "several levels" which made me think straight away of Iraeabor. The adventuring party in the book has a member who owns a tavern, in which they spend quite a bit of time...if I recall correctly.

Sounds like "The Rage"... are you sure the halfling Will is the main character?
mavericace Posted - 25 Nov 2006 : 18:40:55
Well he could check out the book list on this wonderfull site and read the back covers if that would help.

I was going back to older novels, due to the fact that the scribe had forgotten which one it was... hmmm I like solving things, give us some more thoughts my friend, and I bet someone here will find the answer for you.

I also am starting to think city of ravens

City of Ravens?

I believe this might be Mistress of the Night (one of the Priests series) by Don Bassingthwaite and Dave Gross.
The yound man is a magic-less son of 2 wizards, who uses a rapier (Keph) and he gets Shar's sigil on him. His large friend is Jarull who lures Keph into the Sharran cult. Keph ends up helping the Selunites outside of Yhaunn.
The vertical levels is the Stiltways in which Keph does some fighting.

If you have read just about everyone, maybe you can narrow things down for us a bit, eh?

I too have read nearly every FR novel, but I think a little more info is needed here, my friend

do you have any idea if this was part of a series, or if it was a newer or older book?
