That's an interesting observation, Brian. For me, the SW cover didn't capture the inner tension of the character. I guess I think it was too "butlery." On the other hand, the inner black and white in SW (also by Terese) got it perfectly. There, Cale's in his "natural" element, blade in hand, and his body language mirrors that, but his facial expression seems ambivalent about the whole thing. He looks at war with himself, which is just right. I feel the same way about the Cale trilogy covers (also by Terese), in which I think she amazingly captures that tension with nothing more to work with than a close up of his face.
Different strokes, I suppose.

To my untrained eye, it seems to me that the Sembia cover art underwent a conceptual change from the early books in the series to the later. The later books, while still retaining a feel reminiscent of the "portrait" concept, introduced some action and more interesting scenes. "Black Wolf," "Sands of the Soul," and "Lord of Stormweather" are very nice covers. Let me add that I think Terese hit the ball so far out of the park with the Cale Trilogy covers that I'm pretty sure the ball reached escape velocity and is even now whizzing past Jupiter.

 What an odd decision!
Whilst the Sembia series is one of my favorite FR series, I doubt i'll pick these reprints up. I can understand WotC's reason for rereleasing, but like Alaundo, i'd much rather have seen a rerelease in the form of a collectors edition or something, which i DEFINATELY would get.
Once WotC decide to reprint Finders Stone (+ sequels), then i'll praise them wholy |

kind of crazy to me. I have been in the realms almost the entire time it has been in published works. I do believe this would be the "fastest" re-print of any of the novels. hey how about ones like the finders stone and the harpers. Anyways, my 2 coppers |

Which is the same for other scribes who've also said much the same here at Candlekeep.
I'm not sure whether I'll pick these new re-prints up myself -- but I'll certainly take the opportunity to read through all my copies again  .
