Posted - 25 Jan 2004 : 22:24:31 Just finished reading Crucible but am confused. What fate befell the actual accursed tome, The Cyrinishad? Was it confiscated by the Harpers, is it being held within Candlekeep or were the guardians of the tome ressurected to continue with their duties?

Posted - 03 Feb 2004 : 18:37:55 Well, I think we should ask Mr. Lowder (an author and editor Ed of the Greenwood has GREAT respect for, BTW) for the definitive fate. Possibly in the form of a new novel... :) |

Posted - 03 Feb 2004 : 09:45:16 I gotta read those books again! I can't remember any of that...
Well, into my reading stack they go. (No, don't topple over... Arrgh) |

quote: I knew at once that my foes meant to drop the Cyrinishad into one of the boiling cesspools below their latrines . . . .
That's the last mention I could find/recall of the location of the book. Enjoy your swim. |

Posted - 01 Feb 2004 : 02:26:18 So it is in the moat??? |

Posted - 31 Jan 2004 : 23:43:11 Oh, you misunderstand me. I don't want it! I hate Cyric! I just want access to the wine cellar........ |

Posted - 31 Jan 2004 : 23:40:48 If memory serves they buried the book in the moat in The Crucible, you might try looking there. Really, it is a useless item unless you want to make everyone revere Cyric. |

Posted - 31 Jan 2004 : 23:37:41 So that means the book is still here in Candlekeep! Ah ha! So that's why Alaundo won't let me into the "wine cellar"! Or it could just be that he doesn't want me drinking all the wine........ |

Posted - 31 Jan 2004 : 23:23:17 No, he mistakenly stole Rinda's diary, Rinda being the scribe of the Cyrinshad and its protector from Cyric. He was magically compelled, rather comically, to read Rinda's diary to the Gods at Cyric's trial shortly after. |

Posted - 31 Jan 2004 : 21:47:42 I thought Malik did get his hands on The Cyrinishad, but lost it when he jumped into the moat to escape Ruha??? |

Posted - 31 Jan 2004 : 20:53:32 Allow me to rephrase, his continued survival was contingent upon his agreement with the terms that he not seek the Cyrinshad. It's more like a binding legal agreement. |
Cyric |
Posted - 31 Jan 2004 : 10:45:59 you know Cyric is the god of lies... and it was kind of a joke and i know i have read the books to |

Posted - 31 Jan 2004 : 04:02:16 Good luck finding it, the Cyrinshad is immune to all forms of detection, even from divine sources. You could spend a lifetime searching and only find it if you were looking right at it. Also, as part of his guilty verdict at his trial cyric swore neither he nor his faithful would ever search for or use the Cyrinshad, ever. |
Cyric |
Posted - 30 Jan 2004 : 21:23:23 i think its the best book ever writen and you say that it is somewhere in these halls that was neat to now . I must be going to the lower levels now. |

Posted - 30 Jan 2004 : 20:25:35 I was always of the opinion if they wanted to hide the Cyrinshad in Candlekeep they should have stuck it on the same shelf as the mind flayer cookbooks. Cheap joke, I know. Honestly, the Crucibl was an interesting read, the style of writing by Troy Denning was neat, and in many ways very effective. The sort of Cyric-driven slant to the book worked well. It is one of his better FR books in my opinion. |

Posted - 29 Jan 2004 : 23:27:23 Well, I just finished Crucible, so I thought I could chime in. The Cyrinishad is still buried somewhere in Candlekeep. Malik sensed it somewhere in the lower levels before he fled.
As far as Mask, I would guess Cherrn is near the mark. By "losing" intrigue from his portfolio, he lost a divine level, yadda, yadda yadda. And Mask did testify at the trial, but against Mystra and not Cyric. |
Cherrn |
Posted - 26 Jan 2004 : 16:09:11 He sacrificed 1 divine lvl to regain his wits :) Went from Intermediate to Lesser, he's now nearly intermediate again. So he should be alright |

Posted - 26 Jan 2004 : 10:05:00 actually, i don't think the cyricists know where it is either. i mean, if they did, cyric would probably know somehow and NOT send malik after Gwydion and that girl of oghma's thinking that they had it, right? bit that's a good question, i last remember it when mask read it right before kelemvor overthrew cyric. since we're on the topic, i got a question too: mask turned into a "cyric-worshipper" after reading it too, which is why he confessed to cyric that he had been betraying him as godsbane, but is he still under the effect of the cyrinishad? if he were, wouldn't this have kept him from testifying against cyric at his trial? (he DID testify at the trial, right? sorry, it's been a while) |

Posted - 25 Jan 2004 : 23:30:10 Ah yes, now I remember it. It has been a while since I read Crucible. As far as I know though, Cyric and his church does still have the Cyrinishad. That's why the other gods fear him.
Hmmmm it's all blurry, I need to reread it :) |

Warning: Crucible Spoilers Below! . . . . . . . Malik didn't hang on to it for long during his escape from Candlekeep but then he left for Zhentil Keep to obtain The True Life of Cyric (an alltogether different tome).

Posted - 25 Jan 2004 : 22:52:43 I believe that the wretched tome is still held in the Hallowed Halls of The Keep. Though I hope that is not the case. We have been gathering an unhealthy number of Cyricists as of late... |
