To be honest ive only played in the realms through sessions and old DOS games like Menzoberanzan but ive never really read any novels. Having said that I'm putting together a campaign that takes place in the north and i was looking for some older novels to read to get a feel for it does anyone have any suggestions id like some that were written in the old 2nd ed era maybe written by ed greenwood himself? thanks for any info i appreciate it |

Try out the Year of Rogue Dragons, the last one takes place in the Great glacier and the others two are in various interesting places like Damara. |

Paths of Darkness is the best Drizzt storyline imo. However, much of it takes place along the Sword Coast. |

awesome ill get that one and pretty much everything north of daggerford and waterdeep as far north as icewind dale the ten towns and the great glacier |

The Crystal Shard by Salvatore takes place in Icewind Dale and is the first novel where Drizzt is featured.  |
