Well, the more recent reprintings of Thornhold make it apart (Book IV) of the 'Songs and Swords' series by Ms. Elaine Cunningham, so I guess that would be the answer...

I haven't read all the Hapers books. They're hard to find. What was the prequel to Thornhold? |

Exactly...
It happens ocassionally with a number of FR novel series that you read. Take the Harpers books for example...it doesn't really matter if they are read in order or not, although it makes sense to leave Thornhold until last...

It's best to follow Sage's advice, he is a SAGE after all. 
You don't have to read the Sembia Series in order of publication as each novel follows one of the main characters life's story. So they don't really follow a chronological order. It's not too difficult to piece together different events mentioned between novels. |

I don't think reading them in order is all that important. I didn't, and I still understood everything that was happening with regards to the general 'Sembia' storyline...

They are independant stories but there ARE points in some which refer back to the previous novels in the series. I HIGHLY recommend that you read them in order. |

I was thinking about picking up Twilight Falling as it seems to get high praise.From what I've been reading though the characters in it were set-up in previous novels. Could someone tell me the books I'd need to read before starting on Twilight Falling?

Well to answer your question without me telling you the answer, try reading the Halls of Stormweather (Sembia Series). He's mentioned in there too. |

hehe,.. so i`ve heard,. i actually have it in my shelf, but i`m finishing crucible first, then its cale time. by the way, crucible did`nt quite get me going like adventure books should when dealing with this type of matter..(he killed gwydion for crying out loud!!). anyway, goodnight :D |
