Maybe it's Daughter of the Drow. This is a hard question. |

Posted - 03 Oct 2013 : 15:57:34 Among the books I've read so far, I think I can name Entreri as my favourite character. Actually, he was better in the older books, but I still enjoy reading the books more, when he's involved. The duo of him and Jarlaxle was really great & fun to read, in the Sellswords trilogy.
I cannot name a favourite single book though. However, "The Sellswords" Trilogy, "The Twilight War" Trilogy and "Haunted Lands" Trilogy (especially Szass Tam's pages) were all great. Right now, I'm reading the third book of the "War of the Spider Queen" series and it's really good. I guess Pharaun can be a hell of a candidate for my "favourite characters" list, as well. |

Posted - 03 Oct 2013 : 11:54:45 hard to choose favorite character either Malik he always makes me laugh, or Jarlaxle. Favorite trilogy though really hard to pick one so a top 5; Year of The Rouge Dragons, Empires which is completely overlooked and underrated in my opinion, Starlight and Shadows ending was a bummer though, Erevis Cale Trilogy, and Last Mythal |

Meh. If I were you, I'd rather invest my precious time in some other Realms or non-Realms novels. [The Fractured Sky, Book 2 in the series, is one of the very few books I literally threw away. Yes, that's how I loved it. Though of course, I heard other scribes praised that series to the heavens.]
That's why I prefer to read the trilogy for myself and make my own judgement. |

I have read the first 2 books of that series and am not impressed. I enjoyed Reid's previous Realms books, but this series just feels like it has something missing. I will read book 3 just to check it off of my "To Read" Realms book list. |

Phaeraun (WotSQ and Empyrean Odyssey)
Pharaun was in the "Empyrean Odyssey" books? I didn't know that.
Really? So you haven't read those plethora of scrolls where scribes denounced Reid's (mis-)use of Pharaun: [spoiler]he was resurrected only to be killed off again, in the most horrible of ways.
I like Reid's Realms novels. He's among my favourite list of favoured authors writing for the setting. So, as a rule, I generally tend to avoid any scrolls discussing his works, so they're not spoiled later.
It's also why I'm not reading your SPOILER space. |

Posted - 13 Jan 2013 : 07:50:29 Ah well. I've been putting off reading them for some time, but now that I know Pharaun's involved -- even if it's only a little bit -- I may have to bump them higher up on my Realms "To-Read" stack. |

Yeah, I remember picking it up based on the Dragonlance name on the box. I opened it up and was annoyed by the lack of War of the Lance stuff. Then I started reading it through, and by the time I read through it I had fallen in love with the setting. It wasn't until the advent of the internet that I realized that someone other than me thought that Taladas was solid gaming gold.
It's hard to find folk who share a passion for Taladas. The DLNexus is always a worthwhile refuge, but it's rare for me to encounter any other discussions sites where active and positive chatting about the other continents of Krynn, receive their due. |

I think that my favorite book was probably Horselords by a sliver. It was just so different and exotic.
I think a lot of Realms readers tend to overlook what nifty stuff Horselords managed to bring to the setting.
Granted, it suffers somewhat for the fact that it greatly promotes the whole "real-world cultural" dynamics that plagued a lot of the 2e add-ons for the FORGOTTEN REALMS, but I tended to find that the book [and the rest of the trilogy by extension] played well with what we only vaguely knew about both the Taan and Kara-Tur as a whole.
And it was released with the Horde boxed set, which was one of my favorite gaming accessories of all time. Between that and Time of the Dragon, Zeb Cook was the man. The book crafted a rich land and told me a story I was really interested in, and then the supplement set up a million square kilometres of fascinating locations for adventures.
Time of the Dragon was an awesome boxed set. I distinctly remember picking it up off the shelf my local gaming store and thinking "Let's see just how far I can go ... " |
