With the up coming Sundering, it seems as if some of the other series are either getting pushed aside (correct me if I'm wrong), or some series were supposedly wrapped up but still have a lot of loose ends. I understand that sometimes the loose ends are intentional, but I can think of two series off the top of my head that don't feel completed. And they were good series, mind you, which is why I'd like to see more. List the series you feel need an addition, but you don't know when/if it will happen do to current directions in WotC and the Realms.

Chosen of Nendawen
Unbroken Chain
Shadowbane (Erik I know you're writing the next one, but it may not come out for awhile, do to current events, yes? Correct me if I'm wrong)

I would love to see a NEW series written about the Land of Fate. I'm not sure why this rich corner of the Realms always got ignored for novel purposes. Zakhara brings back some of my best roleplaying memories.

Yep, that's what I meant.

I second this series (Songs and Swords)! And maybe, if Tymora and Denir are smiling upon us, the (original) 6th book would be back on the list of upcoming novels.

2- More of something like the Sembia series! Get several authors to focus on a small part of one particular place that could use a little more attention, while still being easily identifiable.

Lots of good suggestions above.

I would like to see more Cale/Riven.

I'd also like to see a sequel to Circle of Skulls by James Davis

Would like to see more novels by Ed Gentry and Elaine Cunningham, amongst others
Yoss Posted - 05 Dec 2012 : 13:03:01
I second the more Elaith.

More Riven, which I suppose we are getting. Woohoo.

I'd be lying if I didn't say I always want more Entreri, even if I did want him killed off in that last book...

Hmm, I'm sensing a theme. That's a trio of cuddly, lovable guys, right?

Finder could make her a Chosen and keep her aging slowly though, she seemed to have a Charmed life. Giogi could stay young through the Wyvernspur artifact with Cat (if she and Alias don't age). Lots of possibilities.

I like the idea, but Giogi no longer uses the spur; another has been selected (one of his nieces, as I recall). Giogi and Cat have had kids, and I'm personally thinking it's unlikely that Alias, Cat, and the others, won't age normally.

Brotherhood of the Griffon brought so much life into the FR novels for me. I would like to see this series last as long as Drizzt has.

I didn't read the empyrean odyssey series ..did he make a reappearance there?

If I remember correctly someone picked up a finger bone of his, so a resurrection or something might be doable :)

Pretty much what Dennis said. Aliiza was the one who picked up the finger bone, and Phaeraun did make an appearance in EO, but he died again. I was not happy about it, because I was fond of Phaeraun myself, and I fond resurrecting him only to kill him off again, kind of cheap (especially because it sucks to be in Lolth's domain unless you're really lucky), but that's just me.

Hi, Erik,

Assuming that a "regional" Realms book wasn't a jumbo effort like Evermeet or Cormyr: a Novel, how would it differ from a regular Realms novel that just conveys a solid sense of its particular setting?

Agreed. I'd love a novel series on the Chosen, not just the Elminster series, the Blackstaff novel, and the Seven Sisters novel.
I have floated an idea similar to this in the past, and it caught some traction. Sort of a "Chosen across the ages" set of stories. My proposal was for an anthology/web-series of short stories. Would that be of interest?

Yeppers.

How about putting Gwaeron Windstrom in a starring role in one? Drizzt supposedly followed him back in his early days, but then that blurb got dropped somewhere along the way. It would be interesting to see GW () do something cool.

I'd also like to see regional novels, similar to the Ed Greenwood Presents Waterdeep line. Ed Greenwood presents Rasheman, for example.

Or possibly an "Ed Greenwood Presents The Realms" series, wherein each book focuses on a different "realm" like Rashemen, Aglarond, Chessenta, Vaasa, etc.? I could really go for that.

Cheers

He did. He was resurrected, only to be killed off again. Wonderful.

*headdesk* that's right, I should have remembered, because when I read AS and it mentioned Green Siren I thought "ah ha! I know where this came from".

I really really really like the themed novel series. The Fighters, The Rouges...etc. I would love to see more of those. But I would love the themes to be expanded. The Giants, The Dwarves, the Harpers, The Zhentarim. Small contain stories about people in these larger groups.

While I agree with Sage's suggestion*, I wanted to throw my vote behind this idea. I have enjoyed these collections and I am just now getting into the Harpers series and I think there is still plenty of potential here. A new ongoing Harper series would be good, though I believe a counterpoint like a Zhentarim series should be considered along side it.

Likewise I think more series set up like Ed Greenwood Presents Waterdeep should be explored. Set them in different cities/kingdoms (depending on size) around the Realms. Hopefully this would be used to explore some lesser used parts of the Realms or to explore in greater depth parts that have already received coverage (like parts of Cormyr that don't get lots of coverage in the novels already set there).

*I have read almost 130 Realms novels and there has been only 1 that I have read that I would hesitate to pick up a sequel to it.

I mention it becuase the question is what I would like to see more of and Drizzt is one of them. If I had to pick one FR series to make it through a WotC apocalypse it would be Legend of Drizzt.

I don't see why you had to mention that. Mystra's Chosen and even Ao himself would cease to exist, and the whole of Toril will be consumed by the Void, leaving nothing in its wake...But Drizzt would continue to live on...That's how powerful his plot armor is.

Brotherhood of the Griffon
Blades of the Moonsea
Jack Ravenwild
Legend of Drizzt
Arilyn, Danilo, Elaith
Erevis Cale
Blackstaff tower sequel
Chosen of Nendawen sequel
A new series like the Harpers...those were some of the most memorable FR books
Guilded Rune sequel (or anything by Lisa Smedman)
Last Mythal Sequel

I was just about to say exactly the same thing. It is so annoying it hasnt yet been addressed. Was it in Silent Blade when we first heard there has been such a connection? And that novel came out years ago.

I'm also interested in more about the characters in Abolethic Sovereignty. We had a cameo by one character from the trilogy in "Spinner of Lies" by Bruce Cordell.

I want Lisa Smedman to write more about Q'arlynd Melarn, so anything with him would be great. Continuing either Dwarves stories form The Golden Rune or the from the character in House of Serpents for some psionic magic.

I's also like to see Aliisza's son in a novel soon, and more Jack Ravenwild.. As well as Liriel and Elaith from Elaine ASAP.

I haven't read Venom In Her Veins yet, though I have it, but the other ones, I agree! And I'm blanking. Which character from Abolethic Sovereignty appeared in Spinner of Lies? But all the others you listed I would definitely like to see more of!

And I would like to see more Zak period! As I've said before, not in the past, but present. I'd like his spirit make an appearance, but that's just because I like knowing where souls are. And I'd love to see more Jarlaxle. I've missed him in the last two Drizzt books.

Anything with Clan Battlehammer and Mithral Hall. I miss King Bruenor, but I'm jonesing for more of the Hall layout and Clan history to be explored in print.

And while the door seems to have been closed on Jarlaxle and Entreri, Jarlaxle and Kimmuriel had a fascinating conversation on the irreverent drow's thoughts about both hating and profiting from the goddess of chaos, at the same time. I would love to follow those two's relationship further.

Maybe it's a little like the Jackal's clones of Peter Parker/Spider-Man... in that, once the clones each reached a certain age, they individually experienced unexpected consequences [whether positive or negative {DM's discretion}] -- stuff like cellular degeneration [negative], increased strength [positive], greater mental clarity [positive], decreased agility [negative] -- as examples.

I definitely hope to write more Shadowbane. That story is certainly not done yet.

I would think so. Though she and the other Alias vessels are constructs, they were constructed to be as similar to humans as possible -- to the point that at least one of them, Cat of Ordulin, has gotten pregnant and given birth to children.
