Posted - 01 Dec 2011 : 21:10:19 Hello all I'm new around here,
Would anyone mind suggesting a FR book, a little more on the dark side.
I have read all the legend of Drizt and most of the Elminster books, and a few random other ones as well. looking for something a little darker or more geared towards adults.

Was thinking about the Haunted Lands series.

any of the other 4e novels any good?
Try the Ed Greenwood Presents Waterdeep. I'm told they're quite enjoyable . . . even the one by that ridiculously tall de Bie guy.

you will not put a cale book down. dark.......yet heroic. or hell call it revenge, cale rocks. until he died(still in de-nile)(not the one in egypt either) cycle of night save us all
I myself am not a fan of Erevis Cale.
One doesn't have to be Cale's fan to enjoy the trilogy, I guess. Riven and the others have as much screen time as Cale. Well, at least in Book 2 [the only one I read].
Well, I didn't enjoy the Erevis Cale trilogy, either. I'm very much in the minority, there. |

Posted - 03 Dec 2011 : 06:55:01 Good suggestions all! And I'll go ahead and throw my name/books in the ring mostly because, well, I don't know how not to write dark. Blood, ghosts, nightmares, and bloody skulls...in that order actually.

Posted - 02 Dec 2011 : 03:55:39 Definitely The Twilight War Trilogy by Paul S. Kemp and The Haunted Lands Trilogy by Richard Lee Byers. There are reviews on those novels here. And of course, you can check out the Book Club section. If you have specific things you want to know without stumbling upon some major spoilers, feel free to ask. |

Posted - 02 Dec 2011 : 00:03:54 I'd thoroughly recommend any and all Realms novels by Erik Scott de Bie. Suitably dark in places, with a masterful touch of suspense and intrigue. |
