What character did you love to hate? In other words, what villain (or hero, for that matter) did you really want to see fail and why?

For me, I know it's cliche', but when Regis cut the sliver of cloth holding aloft Artemis Entreri, I nearly cheered aloud. Regis was so very cold when he did it....it was such a turn for him...and Artemis, cool as he is, deserved every jag he hit as he fell...

You know, I think it is...and all this time I've been using it as a coaster......I wondered why I kept having the urge to worship the Coca Cola corporation.........
The Cardinal Posted - 19 Dec 2003 : 00:01:59
Did you really expect a different answer ArionElenim?
Cyric devotes himself to Cyric up to the point of gagging, BUT not a single more devoutee of Cyric will find anywhere else than here in the Hallowed Halls of Candlekeep Which I will gladly toast to his faith... Even if it is blind and misguided... whether that is a Good or Bad thing... I doubt even Alaundo Knows....... WAIT! Is the Cyrinshad still in this keeps Halls?!?!
Cyric Posted - 18 Dec 2003 : 20:58:49
not really....
Arion Elenim Posted - 07 Dec 2003 : 02:17:08
Cyric - have you any other thoughts?
Cyric Posted - 06 Dec 2003 : 22:43:14

What bothers you about Lord Thann?

I cannot say I love harpers thus I would love to see Danilo Thann dead meat. I can grant that wish to anyone who has enough gold or magical item.
However I don't hate anyone as I dont love I have enemies that I respect in my own game. I swear that I won't let any of them alive at the and of the game
Cyric Posted - 25 Nov 2003 : 16:14:45
that would never happen and of the chosen elmister is the onley one who is okey
eilinel Posted - 24 Nov 2003 : 10:17:57
it would be such a great moment if Elm turned to evil...
such a great moment.
lowtech Posted - 21 Nov 2003 : 18:59:34
In reference to Elaith or Artemis and Jarlaxle changing alignments, I think that would be a bad idea, such a change would diminish their impact as characters. They serve as likable villians, an important role in any good story. They are the people you hate to love (as opposed to hate to hate, or love to hate). Its similar to my main problem with the DragonLance setting: Black and White distinctions are boring (even a Nuetral alignment in DragonLance tends to indicate a principled stance concerning the Balance rather that the moral paradoxes of a characters' beliefs and actions).
Cyric Posted - 20 Nov 2003 : 14:10:29
i dont get me startet at those "chosen" they just wont die, i think in all the time fr is they wil never die but i hope so that one of them die in greath pain and slow
eilinel Posted - 20 Nov 2003 : 11:46:17
i think Elm actually deserves to die. A bad death, something really reluctant... like of Elm would try to save the world [...] and finally makes all the peoples of Faerun against him by having done something. u know, i would like him to stay a long long time in plans and eventually die in the shadow.

I can't say that I hate the harpers, per se, but Danillo Thann really annoys me...This character alone caused me to drop kick the Elfsong novel across my livingroom one day.

Albalaster's Imp demon in the Cleric Quintet, Druzil. He's so impishly demon but you've just got to love the way he livens up the bad guy scenes.

Behold! I am Elminster, god of Uber-Monte Haul Players. Bow and worship me and if you are a fair looking lass....leave me directions to your quarters.

Cyric, I'd watch my tongue, I didn't, and hissy fits have been thrown because of my indiscretions concerning Elminster....

But I sure as hell agree with you....

i hate Elmister he is just so powerful and wont die but he is sort of cool to

Black, I'm agreeing with you...Cunningham wouldn't DO that to Craulnober...that's why I like him...

As far as the "not enough" comment, I just wish some more of her stuff was published....I'm a huge fan of hers and want to see more....we all know how I feel about Evermeet: IOE, for instance...it's simply brilliant.

Ah, understood. Sorry for the confusion. Trust me, if Elaith changes it will be less like a born again experience and more like....Jules Winfield from a very popular movie.

As for not enough writing. From what I recall if Elaine Cunningham had her wish, we'd already have had a novel featuring Elaith, a certain relative of his that he has no knowledge of, and a new elven Kingdom. WOTC apparently has other ideas as to what they wish to see in novels being released.

What makes Master Craulnober so unique is that he is the definition of what evil CAN be, not what it ALWAYS is in Forgotten Realms novels...in other words, he is not cruel. He is not malicious. He is not particularly fond of murder, lies, torture or backstabbing. Yet, he is undeniably evil. Not monolithically evil (boo!) but realistically evil (yea!).

I believe that Ms. Cunningham (bless her for her wondrous writing, DAMN HER TO THE NINE HELLS for not writing MUCH MUCH more) has put way too much effort into everyone's favorite elven nationalist to simply have him find Helm or some other silliness and abandon his vile ways.......or is vile even the right word

Hasn't written enough???

And where in Elaine Cunningham's stories did you think she tried to have Elaith "find Helm or some other silliness and abandon his vile ways?"

Vile isn't really a right word for Elaith. Ambigious would be a better one.

Malik is a bit irritating, but hes so funny (such as in Crucible), how he describes the gods, praising Cyric but calling Mystra a whore and such

Cosmic justice is a term Mrs. Cunningham constantly uses whenever you get her talking about Elaith and the future for him. I think anyone who read a certain spoiler in the Evermeet novel might be able to figure out exactly what type of cosmic justice might cross Elaith's footsteps one day.
Thysl Posted - 06 Nov 2003 : 05:40:57
Throw in another vote for Malik! That guy is the most unlucky sod EVER! How he isn't dead is a testament to the tenacity of the truly vile spirit! What a curse to have...
