Just thought I'd mention it.

Apparently, it's available as an ebook even now . . . though I can't really find where.

Editor copy:

"Not even the mightiest mage, working spells that remain utterly reliable, can hope to prevail against dozens of tireless, ruthless undead who suffer no pain and can be distracted by nothing.

"Every creature on Faerun has its dark mirror in the undead -- from the ghosts of ancient warriors to the rune-scribed skeletons of dragons. And in a world with as rich and bloody a history as the Forgotten Realms, they are legion -- outshining the living in variety and number.

"Here are a dozen of the most terrifying tales of the haunted Realms."

Chilling, isn't it?

Cheers

P.S. Not that my story is as terrifying as all that. I like how Rosemary described it best: it's kind of a Jessie's Girl (like the song) sort of story in the Realms. With ghouls.

Just got a copy from Amazon.com and now I've got "Jessie's girl" stuck in my head. Snicker.

My story is set in the spring before the events happening in City of the Dead. Oh, and one of the characters is descended from a certain 3E novel that also has a C in the title.

Hmmm....I missed the connection somehow......how about a hint?

Quite intentional.

And well--really just the one, with the other trying to romance outside his social clique.

All these story titles sound particularly intriguing. I really need this book!

'Body in a Bag' is pretty good, Erik.

Heh.

I'd offer to send you one, but you'll probably find yourself purchasing your own copy by the time my shipment to you arrives.

It wouldn't surprise me, since I'm still waiting for my copy.

Interestingly, my other orders -- DL's The Fate of Thorbardin and the WARHAMMER Shadow King novel -- arrived on time.

Well I managed to get my mitts on this one in record time (I think Sage's copy made its way to South Africa, therefore he had to wait ). I can comment on a few things:
The chronological (in Realms time) order that used to prevail previous anthologies is gone. Not that it matters that much as I used to read each anthology from start to finish anyway.
If you don't like the 'New Realms' or don't want to read anything post-Spellplague, you should probably not get this anthology. More than half of the stories are set in the fifteenth century.
That being said, only one of the four stories I have read thusfar have had endless elements prevalent to the 'New Realms' 'canon'. (Primordials, Dawn Titans, Brown Dragons, Abeir, etc). The other post-Spellpague story was a blast (Resurrection Agent by Erin Evans).
We should probably start discussing this in the Book Club, rather than in this scroll, as the first four stories have been a very mixed bag of pre-/post-Spellplague and good/mediocre.

Was it worth gettting? Yeah, I'd say so, even if only 1 out of 4 was really excellent up to this point.
Erik Scott de Bie Posted - 12 Jan 2010 : 20:27:41
I haven't actually read all of RotDead, so I can't really give a fair answer to that question. What I will say is that the Realms series--like all anthologies--feature a wide range of stories that are as varied as the authors themselves. So you'll probably have a similar experience reading this anthology as previous ones.

I can only really attest to my own story, which I had a ball writing, and I think it shows. (Particularly the dream sequence and the there's-an-angry-mob-at-the-door-to-see-you scene.) Otherwise, to each his/her own!

Cheers

RoTD is that good ehh? Your not helping Most of the Realms of.... I have liked alot, usually a couple of gems alongside 5 or six very strong stories, an ejoyable one or two and usually one that just makes me scratch my head and ponder what could have been. Would you say RoTD exceeds that expectation?

I like to finish a series if I have it and I have one more Norrell and Strange to go.....But I think think longer I go without reading a Realms book the stronger the pull to read one is getting!

Better yet, Necron females.
