Just thought I'd mention it.

Apparently, it's available as an ebook even now . . . though I can't really find where.

Editor copy:

"Not even the mightiest mage, working spells that remain utterly reliable, can hope to prevail against dozens of tireless, ruthless undead who suffer no pain and can be distracted by nothing.

"Every creature on Faerun has its dark mirror in the undead -- from the ghosts of ancient warriors to the rune-scribed skeletons of dragons. And in a world with as rich and bloody a history as the Forgotten Realms, they are legion -- outshining the living in variety and number.

"Here are a dozen of the most terrifying tales of the haunted Realms."

Chilling, isn't it?

Cheers

P.S. Not that my story is as terrifying as all that. I like how Rosemary described it best: it's kind of a Jessie's Girl (like the song) sort of story in the Realms. With ghouls.

I'd already pre-ordered my copy last month. So I expect it'll arrive sometime next week.

I shouldn't have to say that I've really been looking forward to this anthology. I'm eager to see just how the subject of the undead/undeath, the dead, and other nefarious interpretations of life beyond the grave are reflected in the collection of stories.

It sounds interesting, but 4th ed/spellplague has killed the realms fiction for me. I was glad when Undead glossed over the Spellplague. It took months for me to finish The Ghost King and I never did finish the Fractured Sky (the first series I didn't finish). I enjoyed Ghost Walker and Depths of Madness but I'm having trouble getting into Downshadow, no offense intended Mr. de Bie.

If I waited till I knew what I was doing, I'd never get anything done.

My copy should arrive this week as well. While I can't say I'm thrilled with the direction the Realms has taken, I'll probably keep getting the anthologies. :)

Well, to my knowledge, the Realms of the Dead anthology features stories from various eras of Realms history (not just post-Spellplague), as some dead have been around a very long time.

Note that I haven't read any of it (except my own story, of course); I just know that that was a possibility when we started writing the stories.

Cheers

I got a copy tonight from Barnes and Noble.

Congrats to Chris Rowe on becoming a Realms Author.

I am looking forward to reading Ed's story on the 'Many Murders of Manshoon' that is set in 1385 DR.

Richard Baker's story on the King in Copper is set in 1376 DR.

Pretty much sums up my current stance too. Plus, I might still buy some older novels from time to time.

As for the topic, I have too been looking forward to the release of this one. *grins with ghoulish glee*

I for one am very interested to see what he does with it!

And in the interest of further teasing, my story is set in Luruar, the city formerly known as Silverymoon. And--following the tradition of my writing schema--connects (however subtly) to my previous work.

Cheers

As am I.

Unfortunately though, I've just been informed that the first release of the novel here has sold out. So my pre-order was unable to secure a first copy. Looks like I'll have to wait for the second shipment.

Just got a copy from Amazon.com and now I've got "Jessie's girl" stuck in my head. Snicker.

My story is set in the spring before the events happening in City of the Dead. Oh, and one of the characters is descended from a certain 3E novel that also has a C in the title.

Yet another book I must get around to buying, this 'un. Ed's story sounds especially interesting, as does Salvatore's.

Erin Evans 'The Resurrection Agent' is pretty good. It set in Erlkazar, The Night Barony. I like Vampire stories.

For example, Erik's story is very romantic: if you find girls popping eyeballs back into skulls attractive. As his hero does!

Well, the heroine in question isn't actually undead . . . it's more of a hobby. Which more than vaguely creeps out the hero.
