(War, intrigue, magic, religion - would also be an interesting read IMHO.)
There is just a tad (not much at all) in chapter 2 of The Crimson Gold. |

Bane, Myrkul, Bhaal
So they started their "careers" as mortals?
Yep, and gambled Jerghal for his divinity (split in three) and Jerghal "lost", rumor has it he was tired of his job.
As to what stories I'd like to see:
-the entire Fall of Myth Drannor affair, preferably written by Troy Denning cuz I just know he can -the Return of Bane, preferably written by Jim Lowder cuz he got the gods right -the Crusade to reclaim Shanatar, written by (whoever did the Dragonlance Dwarven Nations trilogy) cuz he can do dwarves properly
And Jerghal is now Kelemvor's seneschal? He must have been a mighty one indeed, that would be an interesting story for sure! |

I'd love to answer this question, but I can't think of any one specific place I'd want to see more novels take place in. I like all the Realms, and I wouldn't mind being pleasantly surprised to learn that a novel was being set in a place I didn't even think about.
I feel the same, as long as it wouild be pre-spellplague! |

Realmslore swells with tantalizing hints of adventures, heroes and legendary names of the early and mid-14th century DR. Ed Greenwood's highly condensed Knights trilogy and Eric Boyd's articles on Mintiper Moonsilver are some of the first inroads into a corpus of tale and legend central to the bardic lore and adventuring culture of Faerūn which we must imagine from cursory summaries and allusions but which in a saner world we could read and take part in, and which would inform future Realms writing rather than being sprinted past as if by a rigidly forward-facing amnesiac, grown old unrealized before his time, bones cracking, teeth falling from dried-up gums.
Well said, to say the least.

I 110% agree. Even before the announcement of 4e and the Shattered Realms I was longing for more Realms novels set at significant points of history. As fun as it is to read in a supplement, I feel as if I can interact with it more when written in novel form (especially if the writing is at the caliber of excellence that most [sadly not all ] Realms authors exude). |

Life of Halaster Blackcloak - Waterdeep, Undermountain etc - would be an interesting read.
That'd be a massive novel. I think sometimes people forget at times that Hilather/Halaster is older by at least a century or two over Elminster, and his history's still not covered after 5 novels. I shudder to think what it'd take to do Halaster justice [or if it's even possible to attempt a story from his POV -- at least six POVs simultaneously across Undermountain]. Still, it could be a great experiment in nonlinear narrative, that.
I never said it could be done, rather that it would be something I'd like to see! Still, I'm taken with the idea of multiple and nonlinear narratives - great subject matter for it. |

I would personally enjoy a trilogy about the fall of the three Netherease survivor states - Anauria, Asram, and Hlondath (One for each novel!)
And another about the three periods of Imaskari history - I just can't get enough of that 'old time lore'. |

Posted - 14 Jul 2008 : 22:22:01 I would like to either see the Manshoon Wars (preferable written by Steven Schend) or something along the lines of the fall of Imaskar (not sure if have a preferred writer for this one, though I definitely wouldn't cry if it was Elaine or Ed ). |

Hmmm... I've got a couple of juicy choices floating around in my head.
The one that immediately comes to mind though is -- Impiltur, A year in the life of the Velimbrar line of succession.
Don't know much about that area at all, but I would love to have a chance to! |
