In the Avatar Trilogy the Ring of Winter is mentioned several times. I have read the Volo and Savage Frontier write-ups of it, but I would like to know, please, in what novels and modules are the quests for, and the finding of, the Ring described in detail. As a slight aside, did Kelemvor, Cyric, and Midnight appear in any products before the Avatar Trilogy? (I have the Hero's Lorebook and Forgotten Realms Atlas, but I think that came out after the trilogy; it's their backgrounds I am asking about.) |

There's also some snippets in the Heroes' Lorebook regarding the ring and Artus Cimber.

The protagonists of "The Ring of Winter" were given stats in the 2nd Edition Heroes' Lorebook (still available in PDF from WWW.rpgnow.com), and the novel's bad guy was statted in (again 2nd Edition) Vilains' Lorebook (which, at one time, was a free download from the WotC website. The Ring of Winter itself was also described (still 2nd edition) in Heroes' Lorebook (p. 143).

I concur. The only real descriptions of anyone's quest for the Ring are in the novel.
So it's to The Ring of Winter itself I must turn. Now if I only I had a copy.... |

I concur. The only real descriptions of anyone's quest for the Ring are in the novel. |

I think a lot of the comments of the charactes in the Avatar books was back story for what they had been up to as adventurers, and that James Lowder took that back story and ran with it when he wrote his Harpers novel. |

Thanks. My understanding is that The Ring of Winter culminates after the Time of Troubles and only concerns Artus Cimber's quest. What products (if any) deal with the searches which the future gods undertook in search of The Ring of Winter before the ToT? |

Hall of Heroes has thier 1e/2e stats. The sourcebook is confusing because it's a 2e book but it has some 1e classes in it. :) |

Indeed. 'Twas the fifth book of the Harpers run, as I recall. And it mentioned, in passing, a character Lowder introduced in Crusade. |

If I remember correctly, one of the novels in the Harper series actually focuses on the Ring of Winter quest. I forgot what book it was called. Perhaps another scribe here at Candlekeep can be of assistance? |
