Okay, so I'm trying to catalog all my game material, and for some reason, I decided to list edition versions for the D&D stuff. So, which ones are 3.5, and which are 3.0?

Ah, excellent information Ayunken!

Thanks!

The Players Guide to Faerun as the official update to 3.5 for all 3.0 FR books states:
“Underdark actually came out after the revision of the D&D Core rulebooks. You should be able to use all the material from these three sourcebooks [i. e. Races of Faerun, Unapproachable East, which both have anticipated much of the 3.5 changes, and Underdark] without difficulty.”

I have to agree with Wenin, Uunderdark sure looks 3e and not 3.5e.

If the Underdark is 3.5, can you price/build the Bracers of Blinding Strike that are listed within that book, under 3.5 rules? I'm not being contrary. I was in a discussion on the WoTC boards and people said the item couldn't be built in 3.5, and it was priced incorrectly in the Underdark book.

Underdark and Unapproachable East are both 3.5.

VERY minor nitpick here, but the Book of Exalted Deeds is 3.5, otherwise I think your list is perfect.

And Kuje, I believe you're thinking of the Fiend Folio. That was the release at the center of the change, IIRC.

Why is Book of Exalted Deeds 3.5, but Underdark is 3.0? Both were first printed in Oct 2003, which is three months after 3.5 came out. Neither book references 3.5 in the first few pages that I found.

I'm quite certain that one is 3.0.

Aye, and the two modules that came out before the FRCS are also semi-3.0. The modules are Into the Dragons Lair and Pool of Radiance:Attack on Myth Drannor. I say they are semi-3.0 because the rules hadn't been hammered out all the way when they were printed. The Cormyr module is also missing from the list, but it's 3.5e.

Races of Faerun, Unapproachable East, and Savage Species are 3.25, they aren't truly 3.5 nor 3.0, but incorporate a bit of each. I think WotC officially calls them 3.5, but not 100% sure on that.
shandiris Posted - 16 May 2007 : 07:04:26
unapproachable east is actually a middle ground too, it was in the same month as 3.5. But according to wizards its almost completly 3.5

No, I'm not. I'm specifically thinking of a FR book, which is why I said Races of Faerun, which is true since there's a passage that references the revised core books. However, Unapproachable East is also another because it has some passages that reference the 3.5e core books, which weren't printed till a few months later.

Hey Kuje, I thought you were talking about the races of series, not the R.o. Faerun specifically. Sorry about that.

/d

No problem. My fault for only writing Races. :) I should have wrote Races of Faerun. So, no worries.

Races is like half and half actually, if I recall right. It was a change over book that was a middle ground between the two rule changes, so it has some of each.
