30 up Prior of Lunar: Character gets a +4 leadership score modifier with respect to the church of Selune. You are now a prominent member in the Church of Selune and the Sharrans have targeted you for regular assassination attempts. If you fail to uncover a plot each month with DC 30 Gather information check, then you must face a CR 12 Assassin (can be simplified: Make DC 15 Fort save or die.)

Executive powers: Crusade, Excommunicate, Raid

Tell me what you think

In the interests of keeping this scroll on-topic... I'm taking the rest of this discussion with Merrik, to PMs.

Which would you get first? and which has more on Selune?

Again, a definitely more detailed FR deity source when compared to 3e's Faiths & Pantheons.

F&A, P&P, and even Demihuman Deities usually make up what some of us here consider to be the "Big FR Deity Three" sourcebooks -- necessary for any scribes who wish for the most detailed lore regarding the gods and pantheons of the Realms.

I usually throw in the 2e books -- Monster Mythology and On Hallowed Ground as well -- to round out deity knowledge for the Realms.

What is the difference between F&A and Powers & Pantheons?

Thanks I'll see if I can score a copy. What about Faiths & Avatars?

Any write-up on the Church of Selune is appreciated.

If you're just looking for general information, check out Powers & Pantheons. It's got a write-up of the House of the Moon.

I have Faiths & Pantheons. Is your reference better?
The Sage Posted - 09 Oct 2006 : 01:10:24
And the various sourcebooks on Waterdeep.

I haven't used affiliations yet, but it looked intriguing. For the Church of Selune one, I'd go with your option for the Gather Info check followed by a CR (8 + 1d8) encounter (randomize the CR somewhat). I wouldn't go with the secondary option, because having just the Fort save would mean the character is statistically going to die at some time in the next 2 years if they don't have a high gather information (you're gonna roll a 1 sometime), whereas if you're high enough level low CR encounters shouldn't be too much of a problem.
I really like the shadow thief one. It definitely keeps their flavor.
KnightErrantJR Posted - 19 Sep 2006 : 01:12:31
That's great Dargoth. It could come in handy if I ever get back to the Skullport campaign I was running were one of the PCs was a member of the Shadow Thieves.
Chosen of Moradin Posted - 18 Sep 2006 : 18:14:44
Agreed.

The Shadow Thief is perfect, IMHO, and I pretend use it to add more "spice" to the rogue sole adventures, in my campaign.
Alisttair Posted - 18 Sep 2006 : 17:39:28
I like that Shadow Thief one. I don't see anything that I would change. I will probably use this info for one of my campaigns :)
Dargoth Posted - 18 Sep 2006 : 10:44:06
No one crosses the Shadow Thieves and lives!!!!

Coments?
Purple Dragon Knight Posted - 16 Sep 2006 : 20:47:02
I use 5 affiliations in my campaign, with one of them custom-made (the others are identical to some of the sample orgs shown in the book, only renamed).

The one I made is for:

The Hands of Misfortune (loose Brandobaris brotherhood network operating in Faerun, mainly on maintaining food/weapon/magic item caches; mostly neutral in outlook, but some members' cruelty borders on the evil and maniacal)
Dargoth Posted - 16 Sep 2006 : 10:14:50
The Benefits are weighted by the points they have to earn and "duties" they have to perform
Ergdusch Posted - 16 Sep 2006 : 10:02:56
This is very inspiring... must take a closer look at the Affiliations in general though, cause I never heard of them before. However, I do share Sanishiver'S point of view about tracking it more in the background...

Ergudsch
Sanishiver Posted - 16 Sep 2006 : 08:05:28
This is good.

I wonder though...might it be better for the DM simply to track this in the background, whilst hinting at how players can add to their reputation (read: affiliation score) by doing certain things....?

I guess my first reaction was: Players Abusing the System!

OTOH maybe not so bad. I can see lots of RP and in-character goal making by means of this. Makes me want to pick up the PHB II even more!

Excluding the standard title for novices (the Called), we have seven listed titles:- Touched, Enstarred, Moonbathed, Silverbrow, Lunar, Initiate, and High Initiate (these are in ascending order).

EDIT: Just saw Dargoth's post...
Dargoth Posted - 16 Sep 2006 : 06:10:28
The Affiliation benfits can go to characters with non cleric classes so I choose not include the Cleric specfic titles

The other 3 groups Im looking at are

The Knights Samular
Shadow Thieves
Elaith Crime Syndicate
