Apologies if this topic has already been covered, a search and a look through Kuje's index file didn't yield much

Can anyone tell me where the 'impregnable' (as described in FRCS) magical defenses of Evermeet are described?

Many Thanks

I can not find or recall any direct protection from divinations, however the Island is protected by powerful illustions, that make it very hard for non elves to see though. All that normally would be seen is water, thus nothing to divine about the island or people living there. The illusions are either of Divine nature or Elven High Magic, which in 3.X clearly would translate to be Epic spells. A high level character might be able to piece the illustions and gather information. I am not sure what is high enough level to even have a remote chance to succede in divinations concerning the island.

Perhaps it's just me then but I find Candlekeep search tool to be quite clumsy, probably why my search didn't turn up any results.

I appreciate the references to the texts and I'll try and get hold of a copy of them in due course.

In the mean time I'd be grateful if someone could briefly describe to me the part of the defenses (if any) which protect against divinations

Well we know, that the defenses did not fully work in any event, should one have read the sequel.

The warships, the liches, the Elven plate, the airforce, the storm shields and other defennses did prevent an invasion. At best all that can be said the defenses were able to prevent a total defeat and overrun of the Island by the invaders.

As others have noted, there is always a conflict with fair use and providing text of copyright material. To learm more about defenses of Evermeet, one needs to search discussions about such defenses. One can not ask and expect to recieve text with any great chance of such a reply being posted. This because the site itself and the poster could be subjected to criminal and/or civil penalities.

There have been for example discussion about the Elven fleet, that some quoted text was used. There has been discussion about Elven Plate, as well as Elven liches. There are bits and pieces to be found out about Evermeet, and I suspect a dedicated search could even rebuild the entire text of a book quoted under "fair use" doctime.

I think the lack of materials is one of the reasons people gather at Candlekeep. This is where the lore is. Sadly I understand why people don't just write up all the requested info. One, it would be very time consuming. Two, the code of conduct issue. And three because this is yet another defense of Evermeet. I couldn't help myself.

Besides... there's a limit to how much can be quoted from FR sources on a public message board. See the Forum Code of Conduct.

Well the sourcebook is available for 5 bucks as a pdf from paizo or rpgnow.com. I'm sorry that we don't post text from sourcebooks for everyone to reference.

Ed also touches (very briefly) on the defenses of Evermeet in his '04 and '05 replies.

Also check out the Druidhome Trilogy. The elves are not very kind to unwelcome visitors.

The Elves of Evermeet sourcebook and some are used in the Evermeet novel. :)
