Posted - 03 Feb 2006 : 17:27:42 I was wondering if anybody knows who the first humans were on Faerun and if it's possible the time period that they arrived. I'm not looking for specific individuals obviously, more like ethnicity/region.

Being as rabidly "anti-deity" as they were... .

I believe that Imaskar might be the first human civilization to have powerful magic artificacts. They were the first humans to create extradimensional spaces and they were renowned for their portals.

Posted - 04 Feb 2006 : 07:01:27 Jhaamdath is always a good option for a truly ancient civilization, seeing that it was either dying out or already gone before the Seven Cities unified into the earliest form of Netheril. Although, that said, I'm not certain if the human civilizations were really building major magical relics prior to the discovery of the Nether Scrolls. |

From the information given in the above responses I need to modify my question a little. What was the first human civilization that acheived a level of magic great enough to have relics/artifacts?
I'm trying to work on a plot line where the PC's discover the location of a historical/magical relic of an ancient human civilization (very brief description obviously). I know Netheril would be the easy one here but I'm looking for something a little different... Right now I'm leaning towards the Imaskari, but for what I'm planning, the older the better.
Thanks again. |

Serpent Kingdoms lists humans as the last of the Creator Races and the only race not to have established an empire during the Days of Thunder. They did not have their own time until much later... after the Time of Dragons, as I mentioned above.

Posted - 04 Feb 2006 : 00:35:13 During the Days of Thunder (-35,000 DR to -33,000 DR) we know humans lived in small caves.
There are barbarian clans of tribal humans roaming Keltormir in -14,000 DR.
Humans didn't properly arise until the Age of Proud Peoples between -9,000 DR and -3,000 DR, with the passing of the Dragon and Giant eras to the wayside. Human realms such as Unther and Coramshan arise at this time.

Posted - 03 Feb 2006 : 18:59:29 Some timelines appear to hint that many races were living in caves for a long time perhaps a long time undatable as well. It appears posible that there are lost civilizations as well that nothing remains of. |

The Imaskari start settling the area that's now the Raurin by -8350DR. Their capital city is founded -7975DR. After a plague in -4370DR they import Mulani slaves(from Earth?) to replenish their labour force.
There are humans (presumably Calishite) present when Calimshan is founded c-7800DR.
Jhaamdath is founded c.-5800DR.
A group of human communities unite under the name Illusk in -4274DR.
