Posted - 18 Dec 2004 : 15:19:44 Okay, I've been to a few FR servers in Neverwinter Nights and have seen each of their versions of Llorkh: a charming little place owned by the Zhentarim. But still the question remains: Who really founded it? There is no way the Zhentarim could give a city a name that wierd unless the zhent who named it was Ozzy Osbourne (Hey-yo!) I think it was orcs that founded it and came up with the name. Am I wrong? |

Ditto, which is why I don't include the ToT's. I dislike all of those deities and prefer the ones that were killed off. :)
I've said this many times here already, but the only god who actually died during my run of the ToT (which lasted three years in my campaign) was Bane. As we know, he came back officially, but I still keep both Bhaal and Myrkul around, with Myrkul becoming a lesser power and Bhaal merging with Talos for a time. He now though, exists again as a separate god and retains his position as Lord of Murder.
Myrkul on the other hand become the lesser power of undeath.

Now you're starting to sound like Ed Greenwood since if I recall correctly, his home campaign never included the ToT.
You recall right, as far as Ed said. And I agree with Ed when he said, a few times, that the RSE's are harder and harder to top and FR is a bad setting for them. :) Which is why I'll never use them. |

I've never found him interesting. That fact is part of the reason the ToT novels are not that entertaining for this scribe.

Posted - 01 May 2005 : 03:53:06 Are we talking about Cyric being insane because of reading the Cyrinishad and then being slapped back to reality with The True Life? If this is the case I would suggest that he would have to have been at least a bit insane to have attampted a project like the Cyrinishad, thus even after hearing the pages of The True Life he would still be as nuts as when he decided to have the Cyrinishad written.
It's been a while sence I read the Avatar Series so I may be a bit off on how and if it was The True Life that brought him back to sanity.
Lastly, I may be in the minority here but I like Cyric as a deity (This may be due to the fact that I never played before 3ed except for the Baulders Gate II PC game). I think he's a great deity for power hungry (primarily young) humans listed as his worshipers. Although I do think that he should, and my soon be, knocked down to Intermediate or Lesser status but wouldn't he have to have one or more of his portfolios taken by other deities for this to happen?
PS. I hope I didn't waste anyones time with this, as stated above I'm still relatively new to this but I try to be somewhat informed.
PSS. I love reading these forms to hear the opinions of you much more seasoned sages here. (not trying to kiss up ) |

The most current information I have seen in Faiths and Pantheons details how Cyric regained his sanity. Thus, what source are you using to state he is in "no way sane?" Or is that just a personal opinion? |

No, to my recollection, Cyric is still a Greater God.
I've never thought he was all that great.
You know, niether have I. But, he has been warming on me since I am beginning a campiagn set just after the ToT so I have to get used to him I guess...if I have to. |

Yes.
Bane is the man in Zhentil Keep, but Cyric still has his adherents elsewhere. |

I don't recall reading anything that mentioned orcs founding the city. The only piece of information I recall of Pre-Zhent days is found in the North boxed set. If I recall correctly, it just mentions the dwarf and human miners that made up the town before the Zhentarim arrived. |
