What happens if someone takes a Harper Pin from the Harper to whom it was issued?

Does the Harper Pin have an enchantment which causes it to self-destruct if the owner dies?

What happens if the Pin is physically separated from its still-living owner, eg, the owner takes a bath, and then someone steals all the bather's clothing and bags, including the pin?

Self-destruct on separation would be ideal for security, but dang, that's expensive to replace, or inconvenient if the Harper was on a mission and far from anyone who would recognize them personally and confirm that they're authorized for a replacement pin.

Thanks. I have a storyline in which an LG worshipper of Tyr has reason to impersonate a Harper, and was checking if that's legit.
(Yes, she's violating Harper rules, but she never swore to obey THOSE rules.)

A big $#!%storm nuisance to everyone.
I mean, they are a secret society.

They often are enchanted to "sour" (jangle and look tarnished) if detect a wearer as evil. But IIRC were said to never being made individually attuned (like Drow House Insignia, Ravenian blood tokens, etc).

Although depending upon which RPG system you are playing with, there are ways to effectively mask your alignment to either get a magic item to work properly .... or *not* have the magic item's negative side effects activate,

Nothing like that, since there's been occasions where people have picked up a Harper pin outside of becoming a Harper (although, a few of those eventually become Harpers anyway).

However, according to Magic of Faerûn, p 160:

When worn by an evil being, a greater Harper pin turns black and makes discordant jangling sounds (a -10 penalty on Move Silently checks).
