4E Undermountain in April 2012 with multiple adventures, random generators, etc.

Saw this mentioned in a Gencon thread on the WotC boards.

So what can certain scribes that might know about it tell us?

Yeeeeees.
Good news, I'm not totally crazy.
Archmage ? Priest ? close enough

Anyway, even if the idea was nice to read years ago, I feared the worst after sad fate of Azuth.

EDIT: And this is where i saw it first.

I always meant to follow up that little tidbit with my own workings. But when your Twitter-Timeline entries stopped, I must've forgotten to continue working on my idea.

on a related note, I heard from a friend very recently that the Underdark is being done away with. Where did he get this, and is there any truth to it?

Those tweets were the only reason I paid attention to Twitter... What happened to them?

I know they are in a stickied thread on the WotC forums...

No, I meant, why did he stop doing them?

And here it is! BRJ's Twitter Timeline

I will have to check the book "A grand history of the realms", perhaps it was there.
Or perhaps you're totally right and it was from a thread of that forum

My speculations have focused mostly on the Manshoon clone in Undermountain, working to recover the shards of Halaster's soul and becoming a sort of amalgam, part Manshoon and part Halaster. Halashoon, if you will.

Indeed.

My own speculations somewhat mirrored Wooly's, though I tended toward deriving some points from Ed Greenwood as well. Namely, Ed had said in the past, that most of the Manshoon clones likely always followed the original Manshoon's example of having extensive fall-back plans and caches and strategies set in motion. So perhaps the Manshoon clone with Halaster had planned contingencies in place throughout Undermountain, should Halaster ever die or be destroyed.

...

Oh, and I prefer the name Manster for the Manshoon clone that had access to the disparate elements of Halaster's shattered soul.

Well, suddenly, you remind me that question of the soul of halaster, broke into pieces that let many people think about interesting possibility into the future.
I can't find it, but I' sure in wiki about FR, a priest of Azuth was asked to find as much as possible of those pieces.

Maybe you're recalling something that a few of us discussed here several years back?

That's not a reference I recognize, but I'm quite weak on post-1370ish lore.

I second that.

I loved the original Undermountain boxed set, and some of the extra stuff we got for Undermountain during 2E was really good... I wasn't as impressed with the 3.5 adventure, particularly when I noted just a few pages in that there was an NPC using magic they had already taken great care to explain wasn't usable in Undermountain.

I just got the original box set from 2nd edition shipped to me in mint condition; very excited to open and read all the goodies inside for more realms lore.

I agree with Glitter tho, Halaster IS Undermountain, to me.

Well, I hope they will manage to re-create some interesting background because without Halaster Blackcloak, for me, Undermountain isn't Undermountain anymore.
MalariaMoon Posted - 09 Aug 2011 : 10:03:50
Undermountain .... again? Sigh
Diffan Posted - 07 Aug 2011 : 04:42:54
Excellent news! Hopefully this will be the sort of adventure that really makes the Realms shine and somehow better show-cases what 4E can do. I've been a pretty hard critic with WotC adventuers as of late and I hope this shows me something new.

Looks pretty awesome. I was consulted on this, though I didn't design it.
