Posted - 15 Oct 2002 : 19:48:14 Alright folks....
Let's see if we can't cast the Forgotten Realms movie....
I was thinking someone like Nicholas Cage as Drizzt...Thin, wiry, muscular, moral...etc., etc.
I think that Kurt Russell would be perfect as Artemis Entreri (see Escape from New York if you disagree with me). Of course, oddly enough, I could see Nick Cage playing Artemis as well...
I think we'd have a good Catti-Brie in Kate Winslet....a good Elminster in Sean Connery or someone to that effect....and Cliff Robertson (of Charly fame) as the Blackstaff. I think that Angelica Houston (Addams Family, Ever After) as either Lloth or Matron Malice.
Any ideas?
Oh, and the actor who played Maximus' owner (Prospero, I think?) in GLADIATOR would have been PERFECT as Bruenor Battlehammer ("Maximus: Prospero, I think you are in danger of becoming a good man. Prospero: (pause)BAH!"). Unfortunately he passed away recently, so I think that either of the HUGE celts from Braveheart would work....preferably Wallace's friend's father..... |

Jander and William probably went AWOL on us. I haven't heard from them in a while, but that might be coz I didn't have access to the net for 2 weeks due to unforseen PC upgrade problems. Have no fear as I'm back for good now.
I like sean connery and nicholas cage too because they are the best of the best. However we also need to consider actors that look the part and play the part well, ie like whats-his-name who plays Legolas in lotr... with the help of make-up and props he plays the part of an elf really well (I think he'd been better off born as an elf with the long blonde hair). He didn't make it big in Hollywood until after lotr. So remember the little people too, like... me!
N.B. I was just kidding about the last bit about including myself in the film so you can all take a deep breath and breathe a sigh of relief. |

Well, there is a downside to almost everything. As the old Greek saying goes,"All good things come to an end".
Yes, too true. Plus, will you guys stop patting me on the head. I could perfectly do that myself. *Pats head and... also rubs tummy at the same time* See, plus I have very good coordination. |

You can make jokes about me if you wish,I have made plenty about you and Turkey.I have a good sense of humor and can laugh at jokes about me so go ahead and vent your frustration of old people on me. |

Yeah, you are correct about the amputation but I like picking on Jundar and I won't cut his legs off....Even if he does think I'm fat like Regis.
Hey I don't think like that but you said that you like eating very much and you americans eat junk food all the time and when I visitted your country 7 years ago I saw lots of fat arses. Don't get mad, I may be wrong about you but you cannot blame my way of thinking, right? [/quote]

And yes, maybe Drew barrymore isn't the best choice for Cattie Brie's role, but I was running dry of inspiration at that point. If it did ever go into production, you know it would be a bunch of unknowns or B-list sit com actors playing the parts

Drizzt wasn't that big,the guy from Rocky 4 is Dolph Lundgren. Drizzt is 4'5" tall that is the problem with an actor for him. What about Regis...you can play him Jandar. too tall, we can cut off some of your leg. |

Posted - 24 Oct 2003 : 23:24:02 Would you say that again Bookwyrm..... Lucy Lu would make a great Kensai or monk from Kara-Tur,Cattie-brie as I said before is "None other than Angilina Joline." And Drizzt played by Wesley Snipes.
|
Bookwyrm |
Posted - 24 Oct 2003 : 18:20:12 Drew Barrymore for Catti-brie? No way. I admit I haven't seen her in much, but she doesn't have the same attiude, I think . . . .
Lucy Liu would be good for something, but not for any of the main Realms characters. Why? Race. [::mouth twists as he uses one of his least favorite terms, at least in this context::] It's just the simple fact that people of her physical type are extremely rare in Faerun itself. (Otherwise, she'd make a great actor for a lot of the roles. She has the right personality.)
I suppose you can't talk about those two on the same page without mentioning Cameron Diaz. For her . . . well, I think she's the wrong one as well. Just a feeling.
There's another thing that people in this modern culture wouldn't think of right away; hair color. American female (or at least, female Caucasian [::mouth twists::]) beauty tends to blonde hair. Blonde is actually a rare color for hair in the sort of culture that is predominant in Faerun. It would be more common the farther north you go, due to some physical adaptation (I don't understand it fully, but I'm told it has something to do with vitamin D dificiencies, and color adaptation to absorb more sunlight).
The other part of the current fashion in beauty is tanned skin. That fits right in -- not because of the people in Faerun spending more time outdoors, though that's a part. It's mostly because the skin of your average European is a lot darker than that of the average Englishman, which is responsible for the way "whites" [::twist::] have dominated American society. So, while it's unhealthy in the extreme for pale-skined people to get such a tan from anything other than some cremes, it lets them fit into the society we're talking about more easily. Or at least, easily enough for a suspension of disbelief.

Posted - 24 Oct 2003 : 16:09:08 Ok then my forgotten realms parts / actors
Blackstaff: Christopher Lee (it would be nice to see him playing a good guy for once!) Elminster: Sean Connery (the cheeky chappie) Drizzt: Tim roth (might need to polish that middle english accent though) Artemis: Colin Farell or Ray Liotta Catie Brie: Drew Barrymore Bruneor: Bob hoskins Regis: Yeah sorry but it has to be mini-me! Alustriel: Kate blanchet Matron / Lolth: Sharon stone or nicole kidman (they both look pretty evil these days!) Pacha pook: Samuel Jackson (M'****a) or even Ice T Pook's heavy No.1: Mr T (crazy foo) Pook's heavy No.2: Dr Dre (Oh c'mon hommie)
I could go on... |

Posted - 24 Oct 2003 : 12:46:14 I just had a thought. I'd be good too if actors like Lucy Lu were casted into swordfighting characters. Then most of the fighting and action scenes wouldn't have to be faked too much. |
Lina |
Posted - 24 Oct 2003 : 12:01:43 Yeah, more people getting into the action. I'm more of a behind the scenes girl myself. Don't know if I could act infront of the camera, way too scary. |
