Mine would be the back cover of 3e Shining South, with the waterfall and the dragon about to take off.
So, which is your favourite? I'm thinking novels as well as source books (some of the cover art for recent novels has been pretty spiffy as well).

Nothing like a little unwarranted carnage and destruction Champions of Ruin style. Honourable mentions for TPKs go to Lost Empires of Faerūn and Players Guide to Faerūn (if you include the back covers of those two). |

The Twilight Giants original coves are kind of funny, especially The Giant Among Us, becasue Tavis looks happy the Ettin is crashing in. |

I think we've covered this topic before... But I'll rename my pics. For novels, it would be The Crystal Shard -- I love Larry Elmore's stuff. For sourcebooks, it's more Elmore: The Bloodstone Lands. I just love that artwork -- every time I see the picture, I have to wonder about the story behind it. That, to me, is one of the marks of good artwork. |

Most of my adventures and campaigns turned more out like Jim Holloways more humorous pictures. Remember the one (it was at least used in an issue of Dragon)with the party looking at the Kua-Toa skeleton? That one is the usual every day adventure.

My personal faves:
Novels: Clyde Caldwell's cover for the first edition of Spellfire. Pretty strong stuff. Nothing says "high adventure" like a young blonde blasting the... ahem... solid human waste... out of a skeletal dragon.

This is a tough one to narrow down. Anything by Todd Lockwood is amazing. But what captivated me early was my first realms product purchase of the 2E Campaign Setting with Elminster and Drizzt on the cover with the sky blue colour. That was my first visual impression of the realms and it sticks in my head still today. |

This is a tough one. The Grey box cover, the covers of Darkwalker on Moonshae and Soldiers of Ice would be my first choices I think. FR2 the Moonshaes, The Azure Bonds, Red Magic, FR16 The Shining South and N4 Treasure Hunt are contenders. |

First Edition novel: Spellfire (I agree, Sage; no contest on this one)
First Edition game product: The Magister (honourable mention to The Savage Frontier and Dreams of the Red Wizards; I'm a Caldwell fan too, but Jeff Easley will always be the king of D&D cover art for me; Larry Elmore will forever hold that title for Dragon cover art).
Second Edition novel: Crypt of the Shadowking
Second Edition game product: Halls of the High King
Third Edition novel: Elminster in Hell
Third Edition game product: either Dragons of Faerun or Sons of Gruumsh, depending on whether I'd prefer the PCs burned to a crisp or hacked to bits.
The cover art that I've seen online for Ed's upcoming Elminster Must Die! looks pretty nice (if it's the cover we'll actually see on the published title); no comment as to 4E game products, except to say that the Campaign Guide cover art that I saw in product previews looked way better than the cover the FRCG actually got (although I will admit that the latter is one of the better renditions of Drizzt I've seen in a while). |
