New photos of the training can be found here: http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=453082856&albumId=63068
Enjoy!
Hey everyone, I finally finished up the pet project I've been working on for a while now. It's a live action Drizzt short that is up on YouTube surrounding the events from Streams of Silver (and somewhat The Halfling's Gem). Because of logistical limitations (locations, scheduling, special effects) not all of the events fit the books exactly. We did everything we could to at least keep it true to the spirit of the originals. Hope you enjoy!
Be sure to click "Watch in HD" below the video to see the high quality version.

EDIT: I forgot to include a link to our production blog. If the video interests you, then be sure to check it out. The plan is to update the blog once a week.

I'm not quite getting the disagreement over the hammer.
I talked about the books' description of Aegis-fang's appearance in the latter half of this post <over here>. |

Sorry, but the cat was never there ;)
Guenhwyvar is 600lbs, but real panthers are like 90-130lbs with a very... floppy way of moving. A real black panther would have been highly disappointing.
Instead we rotoscoped some stock footage of female lions, color corrected them to make them black. Even then it still looked like a black lion, so we took photos of panther eyes and noses from various angles and tracked them onto the lion's face.
The end result was a 600lb panther that fits the paintings of Guenhwyvar fairly well :D
It turned out great! Thanks again for sharing and hopefully whatever your working on next. |

Posted - 23 Feb 2009 : 05:39:08 I posted a thread about it at WotC as well.

Now I'm even more impressed.
I realize the cat wasn't really in the shot, but I had assumed you used some footage of a real Panther and just added it in. The fact that you went to so much trouble getting the cat right is true dedication.
Out of the entire thing, Wulfgar was the only disappointment... but the hammer rocked! (even if it was based on illustrations and not the real one)
Cattie-Brie and Atremis were well-cast - Entreri needs a tan though (he's a Calishite). The look was spot-on, though, and I think he stole the scenes from Drizzt. |

Posted - 22 Feb 2009 : 18:46:27 I really enjoyed it. Well done, and thank you for contributing to a fandom that's lost so much of it's support from the company that used to provide us with new material to look forward to. |

Posted - 22 Feb 2009 : 02:22:39 Very cool short movie, I am impressed.
I think the fundamental problem with Drizzt is that so many people have created their own image of him in their head that it will be hard to match up perfectly. |

Posted - 21 Feb 2009 : 21:58:30 More 'Kevin Sorbo' for Wulfgar, better beard for Bruenor, less 'mailman' for Regis, and tighter pants on Cattie Brie (perhaps not realistic, but it is a Fantasy trope) - no one wants to see a hot girl's pants bunchin' up.
Drizzt was good, albeit a little afeminant for my tastes, but it works.

-Darn. I was hoping it was around Dallas/Irving Tx.
-So are you from Texas?

Posted - 21 Feb 2009 : 20:44:53 I'd love to see a full length version of this. I had originally only thought that Drizz't could only be done as a CG character. I'd glad I was proven wrong. |

Posted - 21 Feb 2009 : 19:17:26 Someone needs to give you a bigger budget and a fight choreographer. But then I always think that cinematic fight scenes need better scripting.
I was cracking up through most of it. Good job! |

Very decent with the production.
Good swordfighting except the two second battle between the two where they were pretty much doing the same attacks with both weapons over and over, it was fast but very repedative and unrealistic.
Everything besides that was amazing besides wulfgar. Didnt like it all, i think he should be a bit bigger, and his cleanliness does not reflect his character.
