I get the feeling they are not Exarches (or at least no mention of them being one) is due to the fact that there is no Goddess or God of Magic in 4th ed. It seems all the other Exarches have gravitated towards one of the greater powers. Whose 'court' would they be apart of?
I was speaking of the Chosen that were NOT of Mystra's following. Sorry, should have clarified that earlier. |

I, for one, haven't heard anything, although I do not own the 4E FRCG.
The FRCG just says that Alustriel passed away : "Before she passed away, High Lady Alustriel of Silverymoon founded a mutual defense league in the region. Her son Methrammar Aerasumé came to head a more diminished league".
Interesting. And somewhat appropriate considering he was commander of Luruar's armies. |

Posted - 01 Sep 2008 : 04:06:01 I think it's important to note that a Chosen may ascend to the position of an Exarch. Creating new Chosen is still possible, and they don't necessarily have to be an Exarch -- it's just something they might eventually come to. However, judging from that FRCG quote, the current lot of Chosen have obviously ascended to the rank of Exarch. |

No need to be sorry. It's just that it doesn't say anywhere that being an exarch is a requirement for being a Chosen, or vice versa (although, it's possible I misunderstood it--the words are pretty vague). |

I was afraid of someone saying that ! Is ther not any difference between an exarch an a "half-god" ? FRCG are said to be "divine servants of the gods". That's why I did not want to call them "half-god", while they serve gods.
Do you see what I mean ?
So, why "exarch" ? is ther an etymologic meaning ? Or is it a figment as many other Fantasy names ?
The term originally applied to high-ranking religious officials.
With the advent of the Shattered Realms, a lot of demigods (the weakest, lowest rank of deity) were turned into exarchs. Exarchs in the Shattered Realms are apparently very powerful servants of deities, more powerful than a mortal cleric but not a deity in their own right. |

My question is : How could I translate it in to French language ? Could someone give a synomym term ? Could a Canadian scribe help me ?
Thanks a lot.

I can't say I'm surprised. I don't think any previews actually stated that Elminster was insane, that's just how people interpreted the news about him.

Well, that can't be right, because we know the Simbul is still alive, and a couple of the sisters died before the Spellplague even occured (Sylune and Qilue).

1425 is the Year of Seven Sisters. Note that there is no "the" in there; this indicates that it could be any seven female siblings -- especially since at least one was already totally dead and gone (as opposed to dead and still around, which she was for a long time).

So, obviously, Ed did have some plan for the other official [and not as yet revealed] clones.
I get that however, I was responding to a question about the 4E Realms in the FRCG
Anyhoo, as I have stated previously, I like the Manshoon Wars and multiple clones running around, however, I just can't see WotC letting them back in now that they have culled them twice (in 3E and 4E) except in story form if it is hinted at rather than said " A-ha! I am Manshoon Prime!, No, I am Manshoon Prime! No, I am Manshoon Prime! etc etc etc. The new game is less convoluted and 'easier' to play, and we wouldn't want to confuse anybody, would we?
I have no doubt that a story from Ed about a Manshoon clone or three would be great, but in 4E less is more (apparently.....), so i can't see it happening (hoping that i am pleasantly suprised of course!)
Just my thoughts

The answer from the WotC forum to that specific question (is Manshoon still alive and how many?) was that only one Manshoon was left - I don't recall the post mentioning what happened to the other two official ones.
Cheers

Well, I did say "as of 3e."
Here's the relevant tidbits from both THO and Ed:-
"Remember the clever words of Richard Lee Byers, at last year's GenCon Indy FR seminar: "In my father's house, there are many Manshoons." In other words, there are MORE Manshoons than 3e lore currently admits (as Ed will reveal in the fullness of time). And I'd say he's far more powerful than Fzoul, because he has fall-back plans and caches and plans set in motion far beyond Fzoul's capacity to anticipate. He may have suffered a personal setback within the Zhentarim, temporarily, but (to quote Ed of the Greenwood, hereafter):
"He's MUCH more cunning and better prepared than Fzoul has ever been. Fzoul always plays the "Hi, God of the Moment, I'm Yours!" card, and that's like juggling a flaming sword: no matter how good you are, sooner or later you're going to get badly cut and burned. My money is always on Manshoon - - and remember, I created Fzoul, Manshoon, and the Zhentarim, but haven't really had the chance to properly tell any of their stories, yet. Just fragments."
To this I can add: don't miss the Best of Eddie book, for a few glimpses more . . .
love, THO"
...
So, obviously, Ed did have some plan for the other official [and not as yet revealed] clones. |
