Big Al, what happened to the stone-finish backgrounds of the Candlekeep forums?

Is this change part of the new additions you alluded to a few weeks ago?

Well met

Well i'm surprised to hear that, Kajehase. With all this Realmslore surrounding thee, ye prefer the texture of the chamber walls?

Never heard the saying - "The writing's on the wall," Alaundo?

I really like this blue, it contrasts perfectly with the background, and keeps the image of the site just fine... And it would be difficult to find a "readable" color with this background (white is not an option!!)

Thank ye, Winterfox, i'm glad ye think so

Speaking of "blue", any thoughts on changing the lighter blue color of the text which appears on the background? Whilst blue is a text color which runs throughout the Candlekeep site, I wonder if it actually might look better as a lighter color on the forum.

I like 'em too, it makes the site more sober...

I'd like to believe that's true, but as a programmer, I know otherwise .

Aye, 'tis my trade also and must be in my nature to want to tinker

Indeed, Thelonius. The "in forum" link color has been changed to a darker blue. I personally think it looks a little smarter.

The color scheme, for me, is to give a theme of parchment and such...this being a library of sorts. I would still like to keep this particular theme but certainly feel that the background makes it all look a little dated.

Of course, this will all be reviewed when v2.0 of the site proper is nearing completion At which time, i'll likely put colors and themes to the vote.

I agree with you, keep the darker colors. I can't stand bright colors when looking at my moniter, they make me flinch.

Spare a thought also for those of us in time zones where it is now in the early hours of the morning and we are straining to look at such bright and glaring screens... .

I am, trust me, I am. I just woke up and went, "GAH! Bright light! Bright light!," like a gremlin would. :)

Alaundo: My thanks for changing back.

How's that? I forget that thou art all working away in chambers lit only by dim candlelight This should be better upon thine eyes

...my eyes hurt. Beige. O_o
The Sage Posted - 13 Nov 2005 : 16:51:22
That's a relief . While I'm not totally averse to the new scheme, it is a tad too bright. A tone down would be better... and if you're keeping the older background, well so much the better .

Worry not. 'tis not permanent, i'm merely experimenting over the next day or so I'll tone it back down for now, but the old "stone-finish" background will be going as part of a different color scheme.

Egad? I was just hoping my computer decided not to load the background.

This does cause a major clash.

The scroll logo doesn't look as good against this new background...
