Well met

Well, here ye are, the first set of new smilies to hopefully satisfy a number of scribes herein (yes, SiriusBlack, I have included a "rolling eyes" smiley for thee).

The new smilies are as follows (they will possibly be renamed soon):

- Rolling Eyes
- Totally Confused
- Help!
- I'm the King
- Laughing
- What?!
- Oooohh
- Scowl

Ah, good, more smilies...
Shadowlord Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 14:38:05
See Bookwyrm, good things do come from fraternizing with drow...
Bookwyrm Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 10:11:42
Thank you for your patience, Alaundo.
Alaundo Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 10:01:32
Well met

I will be placing Bookwyrm's new smilies for use some time over the next few days. I may still yet add others over time.
Shadowlord Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 09:23:48
Heh, no arguments there, Bookwyrm. I'd love to see the "Exasperated" smiley as well.
Bookwyrm Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 08:57:28
No, it's just it looked like the reverse of the sarcasm. It also didn't look like "thinking" to me anymore. So I've switched it for an "exasperated" look: -_-

I've a feeling we'll be using both when refering to WotC.
Shadowlord Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 08:23:37
Yes, but I thought the name "thinking" didn't imply happiness, but a period of intense thought. Well, that's my opinion, anyway.
Bookwyrm Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 08:20:37
I'll do that. Though I'll have to drop out my "thinking" one for now -- it looks too close to "sarcasm." Still, I just did it to get an even four.
Shadowlord Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 08:16:50
Much better. I'm glad I finally discovered how to say what I meant. It made a great improvement to your smiley. And to think, such a drastic appearance change occurred just because of two pixels... I say, you should submit them to Alaundo now. They look fine to me.
Bookwyrm Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 08:12:12
Good point. I've just sent you a new one, with two pixels having changed color. See how that does for you.
Shadowlord Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 08:01:37
Yes, true, but (ah ha! I finally found words for my feelings ) your smiley seems to convey a sense of "displeased sarcasm". I much prefer an "amused sarcasm". Mayhaps if you changed the mouth's positioning?
Bookwyrm Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 07:56:14
Hmm. Well, when I make a "sarcastic" face, I don't generally roll my eyes. I look up and right, usually. That's why I did that; I simply assumed that was what most people did, having never tried to find a basic "sarcasm" expression.

I also often give a smirk, so can, for me, show "amused sarcasm."
Shadowlord Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 07:48:14
Well, I thought the sarcasm smiley should convey something else, since looking towards the upper left hand corner doesn't generally mean sarcasm (or at least that's my interpretation). I would say it might be another emotion, but I can't place my finger on the name right now...
Bookwyrm Posted - 19 Apr 2004 : 07:37:12
I don't quite know what you mean by misinterperate, but it seems Shadowlord found the same problem with my entry for a "sarcastic" emoticon.

Perhaps you both could explain this to me in greater detail?

Of course, perhaps they're not up to other people's expectations. Would anyone like me to send them these emoticons for review?

Well met

Many apologies, Bookwyrm. I indeed intended to contact you regarding this matter but it has been busy within the library of late due to the pending new material due to appear later today.

I judged that maybe a number of the smilies you send would be misinterpreted by some scribes. However, I will replace exsiting ones or add new ones to the list to see how they are received.
Shadowlord Posted - 17 Apr 2004 : 13:29:59
Bookwyrm, these smilies are excellent! Although I'm not so sure about your sarcasm emotion. It seems like it conveys something else...
Bookwyrm Posted - 17 Apr 2004 : 08:00:47
I generally don't pay attention to the emails unless I need to talk directly to someone. I don't exactly record every member's email adress.

Anyway, go ahead and check. I just sent them.
Shadowlord Posted - 17 Apr 2004 : 07:44:56
Oh. Right. JAM1122@comcast.net Bookwyrm. I just posted it in Arivia's thread, so I thought you might have seen it.
Bookwyrm Posted - 17 Apr 2004 : 07:15:21
Well, I sent you an email already, but without the smilies. I can't attach them through the forum's mail system, and you don't have your email posted in your profile.
Shadowlord Posted - 17 Apr 2004 : 07:11:58
Right then. I "eagerly" await it.
Bookwyrm Posted - 17 Apr 2004 : 06:19:42
The ^_^ is similar to the one I made for my Messenger program. The "eager" looks like the "big smile" face from the same program. Only, of course, they're both in the same style as the old emoticons here. As yet, I haven't made a -_- face.

I'll send them to you both.
Sadonayerah Odrydin Posted - 17 Apr 2004 : 05:04:42
Ah okay. lol! Its all good. Have I seen these emoticons before? Would you email them to me if I haven't seen them?

Bookwyrm, I'd be happy to review your smilies.

I don't know if anyone has suggested this or not, but what about a smilie that has a little anime sweatdrop type thing? ^_^() something like that or -_-;

Just a thought. I don't know about anyone else, but I use those a lot. (but I could also be the only one...who knows?) lol!

If anyone wishs to attempt to create such, please feel free and send them on to us. The icons are in the GIF format and are 15x15 pixels.

I may just take you up on that Alaundo. The Ravenloft icons are easier enough to alter. I'll send you some examples next week, time permitting of course .
Bookwyrm Posted - 15 Apr 2004 : 09:33:02
And what about the ones I already provided, hmm?

::grumble::

These are very good Alaundo, thank you.

However, while visiting the Ravenloft boards, I noticed that they have smilies of famous NPCs from the campaign setting, like Strahd, and Azalin for example.

Do such smilies exist for the Forgotten Realms setting as well?. I'd really like to see small smilies of Elminster, Khelben, and Storm .
