I'm waiting to hear back from either Sage or Lady Kazandra. But, I guess they have their hands full with other matters at the moment
They're coming over to visit me anyway, so, maybe I can sneak a peak at the campaign notebook, and post a few choice tidbits here without him knowing

As I was telling the Bookwyrm yesterday, I'm going to be releasing some details about the start of the PbeM about this time next week (along with some special news).
Is it who I think it is? I thought she was too busy? How did you get her to register with the PbEM?
One last question:- Am I allowed to mention any details?

I have about a week (5 days) left of the tour here in London. Once that's done (and we've finished visiting with the Lady K's parents), we're intending on heading back to Perth.
I'll have to spend a few days catching up with work and study... so, all in all... about two weeks from today.

Posted - 24 Sep 2004 : 02:06:06 I'll try to get busy tonight writing the parts getting Kelly and Jack into Waterdeep. Once that's done I can put Kelly and Allison's meeting into it and be almost up to the beginning of the Campaign.
Question. Sage. Do we have a new timeframe? I hear you are "out of pocket" as it were. Let me know please, I had pretty much given up on the game ever starting. |

In the interests of promoting this idea fully, I may just decide to post the introduction to the campaign here at Candlekeep. This will allow all players to have access to the details surrounding the beginning to the adventure, and also allow player, such as yourself to fully integrated your PC into the "flow" of the plot.
I'll wait see how busy my afternoon will be later tomorrow. If I have some spare time between rehearsals... I'll post the introduction here in a new scroll.

Well, you'd of course get to be a member of the group. I don't know how much would get done, though. I don't know how the campaign is supposed to start, so I have no idea how to lead up to it.
I suppose a good place to start would be to get cracking on my own writing, of course.
(Unfortunately, this isn't the only place demanding keystrokes from me. For some reason, my professors want work turned in every week. Don't they know dragons think on the scale of centuries? Idiot humanoids . . . .)
LOL. I remember Professors have such quaint notions, like what they teach will be even remotely useful in professional life. (OK, that's not 100% true, and a tad harsh, but I know for my own profession I learned more from doing than sitting through masters' coursework.) As always, I'll volunteer to watch, and assist with anything needing done. |

... would people be interested in my idea of an interim group so we can keep the dust off our character sheets?
Actually, that's an interesting suggestion.
I don't have the time to go into specifics now (I have to leave for a quick rehearsal before the main show), but I'd like to see what ideas for this discussion group arise. Also, if someone, either the Bookwyrm or Fletch, could email to me, the results of each meeting... it would certainly go a long way in helping to get the campaign started more quickly once I return to Australia.

Artalis and I just did Kelly and Allisons interation through e-mail. I believe he was going to post Kelly's view of the interaction but he may not be up to that point yet. So for now its still "off camera". Really not much happened anyway, they just met and got aquainted so now they know each other
Thanks |

Allison has lived all her life in Waterdeep, well that and on ships traveling to and from Waterdeep so she has seen other cities.
Anyways she is free for some interaction |
Bookwyrm |
Posted - 19 Sep 2004 : 09:05:29 Well, Jack and Kelly (yikes! that sounds like some WB show! ) have been in the city for at least two days before everything starts in the actual game. I'd prefer more, of course, but I haven't writen that part yet. (Yes, I know, mea culpa.)
Anyway, Kelly's off with Allison at the moment, while I presume -- having not written it yet! -- Jack's in the middle of talking to an NPC mage someplace, trying to get a few answers. Likely at the Oghmian temple/library. |

Posted - 18 Sep 2004 : 20:35:40 Rondell Rivenstone is in Waterdeep by the time the adventure starts (and he had been there at least 2 tendays before the adventure began, so we can do a lot of interactions) |

There's a good reason for that.
I'd been thinking of setting up a temporary site to let us do it, actually, at least until Sage gets things going. The only trouble is that I wouldn't know where to start, gamewise. I know where my character is, and Artalis', and Wood Elf's. Other than that, I don't know how the rest of us get together -- especially if two are coming from the planes themselves, as I recall. |

Also, any updates on the start date? I can't wait have our PCs interact and see the website Sage is setting up for the campaign...
Could we at least get the IC interactions going (i.e. the intro and how our PCs meet so we can start a virtual discussion in a tavern, here on these boards? that would speed things up immensely and give us our roleplaying fix.) |

I know -- that's a chaotic scroll. I never thought that Jack would be so popular, so I didn't lend any thought when I started to structuring the thread. If I had, then things would have been different. At the very least, I'd have kept all updates to the story in the opening post, editing in things as the story progressed.
I do have good news, though, and it has nothing to do with car insurance. Namely, I'm going to fix up my site to go public, at least as far as the section on Jack is concerned. It will have the story (both the completed first chapter and the unfinished second), Jack's character sheet, a sheet for his future familiar, and if I can get around to it, a page on the extras -- like the questions you guys asked, or my thoughts on how magic works on Jack's Earth. And, of course, any pictures you give me . . . so let's move to that.

-From Kelly's Predicament
He was very tall, with short, dark, wavy brown hair under a fedora and green eyes. Kelly noted that he walked with a strange sort of precision, every step placed carefully by habit apparently. He was thin but not overly so and looked somewhat tired. His clothing however was what truly grabbed her notice.
He had boots and a cloak of slightly different shades of gray from each other but his blue jeans and t-shirt were what caught her attention. “He brought his own body with him…” she thought incredulously as she stared intently frowning slightly in concentration. She noted a very nice rapier at his right hip and a black sheath was strapped to his right leg below a rather large dagger.
Yes, this is Jack, but as he is before the campaign. After he gets to Waterdeep, he'll get less . . . conspicuous clothes. He has a set of period "gentleman's" clothes, of course. That's breeches and a loose shirt (the latter with plenty of give and flowing sleaves that are gathered in ties at the elbows and wrists). Add the fedora, and he looks pretty Musketeerish. Offhand, I don't think that'll be in any NWN pack.
The standard fare he'll have when out of the city will be a standard "explorers outfit" from the PHB. The extras to that will be his fedora (feel free to ignore that item) and his cloak (which has not yet been revealed in the story as a cloak of elvenkind . . . but that's it; he doesn't know it yet, that's all).
His rapier is very functional, but also very pretty. The latter was its real function -- even in an SCA tournament, where period is everything, you do not use real weapons. Jack's rapier was just along to look good. There are some pretty specific points about how it looks, but I'd be satisfied with a nice, shiny swept hilted rapier.
For his face and skin, he's very fair, has dark hair, and no stubble. Hopefully you have a face in there with no stubble and normal sort of hair . . . the standared NWN doesn't.
Thanks for trying. |

Posted - 01 Sep 2004 : 12:34:50 Yes bookwyrm there have been major updates to the way characters look in NWN since the first game came out. Especially recently with the release of a HUGE Community Expansion Pack thats downloadable online. Basically its all of the best and most widely used mods put together in one download. Very nifty especially tons of new weapons and modifications for weapons (you have to know how to use the editor though).
I don't have time right now PDK but when I get home this afternoon I will see what I can do And if you would like Bookwyrm I can try to create Jack for you as well. |

Posted - 01 Sep 2004 : 12:14:52 Wood Elf, any chance you could whip me up a gnome bard/cleric with studded leather, whip and composite shortbow, with dark brown hair, goatie, eyes and cloak? Kinda looking like the image of Baravar Cloakshadow out of Faiths and Pantheons (like the gnome pic found on the main page on my character sheet)
Thanks a lot!
PS: don't worry if you can't do it or don't have time; this would be just bonus and I don't necessarily need it to play; just a nice-to-have, so don't sweat it if you don't want or can't do it! |

Posted - 01 Sep 2004 : 09:39:33 Well, you must get a lot of good visual add-ons with later expansions to the game. All I have is the regular one, and I can't get anything remotely close to Jack. I'd never used a rapier with any of the characters I'd made before, so I didn't even know that the standard rapier looked like . . . that. I was expecting something with a swept hilt like Allison has in that picture.
I guess I'll have to go back to my half-baked plans for a drawing of my own . . . . |
