Posted - 10 May 2007 : 09:19:09 Can sound travel 'through' a zone of silence? For example (simplest situation) there is a zone of silence in the middle of a tunnel, completely sealing it. Someone shouts in one end of the tunnel, can it be heard at the other end? |

You can't cast a spell with a verbal component in a Zone of Silence. You need Silent Spell metamagic or the Vocalize spell for that.
Also, creatures tend to notice when they suddenly go deaf for no reason...
Those within the spell’s area can converse normally, yet no one outside can hear your voices or any other noises from within
Zone of Silence http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/zoneOfSilence.htm ---------------------------------------------------------------- I were not thinking of scouting but about hiding…
One last thing, this spell gives you almost a immunity to “all” including language-dependent or sonic spell effects
Ah, whenever I think of a Zone of Silence, I still think of the Old Silence spell.
Its okay Shady one… We all makes mistakes, that is what that makes us human… Hmm Right?

Bonus is you don't even see/hear them cursing when they fall down |

Ah there we go thanks
Now that is settled, there might be ways to get messages around a zone of silence using sound.
The first that occured to me was rock tapping, the vibrations of sound could extend wider then the zone of silence.
Another of course could be speaking tubes build outside of the zone of silence. *wink* |

Posted - 10 May 2007 : 10:10:02 I'd say no. Sound waves would basically stop dead at the edges of a silenced area. For them to restart on the other side, something would have to recreate them.
It's kinda like putting a wall in the middle of the tunnel. Once the wall is there, it stops everything that hits it. |

Posted - 10 May 2007 : 09:44:39 If the spell area seals the whole area I would say no (5 ft- radius). Because you manipulate sound waves so sound can’t pass in to the area.
Great spell by the way..
