Greetings,

For my upcoming Evermeet campaign, my friend and I have been tinkering with some feats we've picked up from other books, attempting to make them Realms related.

One such feat was suggested for the paladins in the party who would soon be adventuring in Evermeet.

It was designed by both my friend and myself, however before making it available for the paladins in the campaign, we would like some feedback. Here it is -

Holy Warrior [General]

Prerequisite: 2+ ranks in Knowledge (religion). Weapon Specialization, ability to Smite Evil. Must be a member of a religious order serving a Lawful aligned deity.

Benefit: You gain a +2 to all attack and damage rolls against all clerics that worship Evil-aligned deities.

What do you think, I appreciate all criticism and I understand also that it may need major work.

Good learning...

I think whether or not the PC has to know his opponent is evil, depends on what the DM's interpretation of alignment is in the campaign. For my campaign it would work regardless, but I might not TELL the pc he is getting the bonus.

More of my two tin pieces' worth.

Sage, what's wrong with just inversing Holy Warrior:

Unoly Warrior [General]

Prerequisite: 2+ ranks in Knowledge (religion). Weapon Specialization, ability to Smite Good. Must be a member of a religious order serving an Evil aligned deity.
Benefit: You gain a +2 to all attack and damage rolls against all clerics (what about druids?) that worship Good-aligned deities.

Of course, of the core 3E classes and prestige classes, I think only blackguards get Smite Good, and by the time a PC is a blackguard, +2/+2 might not be much of a bonus. Maybe sub "Ability to cast 2nd level divine spells" in place of being able to Smite, so an evil fighter/cleric could get it at a realtively low level where it'd do some good.

Yes. The clerics must be recognised as servants of evil-aligned deities.

and,

There should be an Unholy Warrior feat as well.

I am currently working on it.

Thanks all...

Hm, I don't seem to be able to find a source other than IwD II for Heretic's Bane. I could've sworn I saw that it came from a PnP source book.

But it seems like an OK PnP feat to me with the "of different alignment" thrown in.

The Holy Warrior feat favors Good characters. There should be an Unholy Warrior feat as well.

zemd, the Weapon Focus feat gives a character +1 to hit everybody. A feat that gives +2/+2 versus characters only of a certain class and alignment does not seem all that powerful to me.

Zemd I thought this was quite a balanced feat. But a requisite should not be servitude to a LAWFUL DEITY.

The IWDII Feat is a little too general and well computer oriented. I think Bookwyrms might work better for the tabletop balance.

I just have this to say. Paladins are already strong enough. Do not make them stronger. When they quest for their Holy , or unholy in some cases, sword, and their horse... they get all that xp for themselves BECSE THEY HAVE TO DO IT BY THEMSELVES. Fight two trolls after you get your holoy sword by yourself when your level 6 and you get what? Something like 900 xp? Not only that but Paladins already get some powerful feats from one of the D&D side books for clerics and paladins. They get cha mods to saves as well ... and damn near imune to fear.... poisons and diseases of both normal and magical nature.... You DONT need to make them stronger .... trust me.

Why is lawful getting bonuses vs. evil?

Unlike zemd, it doesn't seem too powerful to me. It works only versus a small segment of a PC's potential enemies. Does the PC have to know the opponent is an evil cleric?

However, there is already a feat called Heretic's Bane. Here is its adaptation for Icewind Dale II:

Heretic's Bane, pre-req, Divine Spells BAB +4: Allows the character to gain a +1 bonus to hit and damage against clerics and druids.

I think the orginal source says "against druids and clerics of a different alignment" or something like that.
