Does this spell when used on just 1 person (in a one on one situation) hit with all 7 rays if all ranged touch attacks hit?\

Thanks

I know they're different spells, but I didn't make that clear. You're forgiven

Thanks for backing me up though.

It seems to me like Rays are over powered in general what do you guys think?

Also, from Prismatic Ray (Spell Comp.) it says:

"You must succeed on a ranged touch attack with the ray to strike a target. On a successful attack, a creature with 6HD or fewer is blinded for 2d4 rounds by the prismatic ray in addition to suffering a randomly determined effect."

Now, my belief is that the intention of the spell is to cause the damage of the coloured ray to all levels and HD, but that only creatures of 6HD or fewer are blinded, but if one were reading literally you could argue that only creatures of 6HD or less are affected at all.

What do you think?

Hello EliaMorgona,

According to the most recent rules text for this spell, there are no ranged touch attack rolls for this spell. It has an area defined as a cone (see spell description).

Thus, whether there's 0, 1, 10 or 100 creatures within the area of the cone, each creature is still struck randomly by the beams.

The exact number of beams that hit each creature is determined by the chart in the spell text.

On a roll of 1-7, a creature is hit by one beam. On an 8, the creature is hit by two beams.

So the minimum number of beams that can hit a creature is one, the maximum is two (as Kentinal pointed out).

"Every creature in the area is randomly struck by one or more beams"

"8 Struck by two rays; roll twice more, ignoring any “8” results."

The way I read this text, I would say it is not posible that every creature in area of effect to be hit by more then two rays, most kit by one.
