Im looking to run an old DUNGEON magazine adventure, and want to set it on a small island off the sword coast not far from Neverwinter. Of course it gets very cold up that way--but is it possible that a lighthouse could be on an island up there, or is it too icy throughout the year for something like this to exist for ship navigating?

My recollection (rusty, probably from the original Savage Frontier) is that Neverwinter is so named because the port never freezes.

warm waters keep things a bit warmer than you would expect

Waterdeep is at about the same latitude as Seattle, with the same climate. We can then assume that Neverwinter, which is 350 miles north of Waterdeep on the Sword Coast has the same climate as places like Campbell Island on the Pacific coast. And on Campbell Island, we find the Campbell Island Lighthouse. And oddly enough, we also find one not far away at a place called Dryad Point. And there are several lighthouses much farther north than these.

So yes, it is possible to have a lighthouse on an island off the coast of Neverwinter.

Edit: And this answer is thanks to the Google search engine and Google Earth.

We've got plenty of lighthouses off the Swedish coast (which admittedly seem slightly warmer than the Sword Coast, but not by much), so I see no reason why there shouldn't be one.
