So far these articles are some of the best WotC articles I've red. Great work by Ed. I would have loved to see more geographical features Ed describes on the map. Take for example mountains that are described in the latest article aren't viewable on the map at all.
The Sage Posted - 06 Dec 2006 : 12:39:17
That's unlikely.

There's still plenty of published Border Kingdoms to go, and whatever other tidbits Ed has in his notebooks regarding the Kingdoms that have never seen print.

It's more likely WotC simply forgot to update for the next region.
tauster Posted - 06 Dec 2006 : 09:02:16
hmmm... no further anouncements of the next region there... does that mean the series ends here? :(

And despite taking a few hours to swap hard drives and upgrade my RAM, I still beat Dargoth to the punch.

For fun, I want to compile the Border Kingdoms articles into a .pdf with all the trappings of a FR sourcebook, as professional looking as I can make it. I'm having problems finding the font they use for them, especially the ones for chapter and section headings. I'll probably have to play around with programs and cannibalize web enhancements for a while.
The Sage Posted - 02 Nov 2006 : 03:38:01
I'm looking forward to it...

I'll think of it as the fulfillment of what Ed said so long ago about "one-day" having the opportunity to compile all his BK notes and write-ups into a sourcebook.
The Hooded One Posted - 02 Nov 2006 : 03:06:26
Yes, and if they fix the little glitches (like the Shantal Part 3 mislabeling), it'll be one fun fat regional Realms sourcebook that's never seen hard-copy print. Think of it as Volume 2 of POWER OF FAERUN, I suppose: no illustrations but about twice the text . . .
love,
THO

I'm just waiting for the compilation, like they did for the "Elminster Speaks" web column.

You know, both this and the previous Hawkgarth columns were downloadable as Word docs, rather than the pdfs that they had been... Ditto for the new Realmslore article. The rest of the Wizards downloads are in pdf, though... I wonder what's up with that?

As long as there is no "real" official number of BK's I take Kuje's and pass it on until there is no room for debate or doubt left, forcing Ed to except that number as "his" official!

Hail to the 42 Border Kingdoms everyone!

Not that I doubt your word, Wolly, but that number is official?

Well, it's officially the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything... But I can't say if it's the number of Border Kingdoms.

There was close to 40 published as part of the POLYHEDRON series. That number doesn't include the others that Ed never had a chance to include, nor the Border Kingdoms passed "O" since that was were the original articles finished. It also doesn't include the few extra BKs mentioned as part of the entries in PoF and the Border Kingdoms articles at WotC.

The middle portion of the Border Kingdoms seem to be getting a meatier treatment. I like.

Sigh. All scribes, please be aware that The Green Road is NOT part of the Grand Duchy of Shantal. Ed has no idea where that spurious header came from, beyond that it appeared (obviously) after he submitted this entry to WotC.
Let's see if they fix it . . .
