Posted - 07 May 2004 : 08:00:12 I wonder how many people actually realised that the ENTROPOMANCER PrC is a revised character kit for the Doomguard faction in the Planescape setting. I wish WotC would stop putting in these little tidbits from the setting and just publish it outright in 3.5e . . .

Posted - 05 May 2004 : 07:26:22 I allowed CW because you couldnt really go wrong with it, Fighters in Greyhawk or Krynn and Toril are all going got use the same feats and stuff Fighter stuff is pretty generic. Cleric stuff on the other hand is very setting specfic |

Posted - 05 May 2004 : 07:19:52 Yeah, as a DM I continually advice my players to stick to the FR-specific books (MoF, PGtF, RoF, LoD and FaP) instead of aiming at stuff from the "core" splatbooks. Just gives them (and me) a feeling to be more "at home" on Toril.
Complete Divine? Not for me. Not after Complete Warrior (which I allowed before I ever read it through) nearly imbalanced my game. |

I'm not going to purchase it. Nothing in these previews is sparking a desire to spend any $$ towards this tome.

The PRC
The ENTROPOMANCER might seem like a likely candiate for House Karnok in Chessenta but theyve already got there own PrC in LOD (and HK are not a huge organisation)
The Divine World
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU DIE, This is not alot of use, as the Afterlife is completely different in the FR, we have the False and Faithless, unbelievers are not sent to the there Alignment plane (as they no longer exist in the FR cosmology
Domains and Spells
A few of the Domains are useful
The Madness domain could probably go to Cyric (all though its debatable whether its applicable any more as hes no longer mad)
Mind Domain probably a good one for Illesine and maybe Oghma
Mysticism domain: judging by the spells this could go to any deity
Oracle domain: Savas
Pact domain: Tyr/ Torm and maybe Ilmater
Pestilience: Talona & Yurtus
Purification: Lathander
Summoner Domain: Mystra and Azuth
Weather Domain: none really, Talos has the Storm Domain and it a much better fit then Weather, The Winter domain found in Dungeon magazine is a better choice for Auril, which leaves us with Umberlee and there arent any Water/Ocean type spells in the Weather Domain.
All up its not looking good

Posted - 01 May 2004 : 20:26:36 I just added knowledge religion to their list of class skills. It was a quick decision made to accomidate a player in my group who wanted to play one but was uncertain of how to incorporate the class into the Realms. Based on the classes ability to "curse" opponents with bad luck I decided that it made the most sense for the class to be associated with Hoar or Beshaba.
So, when he wrote his background he had the character be from Mourktar in Chessenta where we decided that a small school of Assuran worshippers train certain followers in the way of the hexblade and are at odds with the Banites of that area.
I don't feel that it is a perfect match up, I'd rather see a divine spell-casting knight class represent these two religions with the "hexing" ability that hexblades have. However, I didn't have the time to make a "greyguard" (neutral version of the paladin and blackguard).

Posted - 01 May 2004 : 14:39:37 Hexblades as worshippers of Hoar...that's an interesting idea Sarta. I'm going to look into that myself, for my FR games. Is there anything else you can tell me about what you did for the Hexblades?. Did you make any basic alterations to the class at all?.

Posted - 01 May 2004 : 12:49:19 I'm definitely picking it up and will be happy to post my thoughts on it. While I probably won't do a full blown review, I'll post my summary. I tend to think outside the box when it comes to prc's and find ways to make them work for FR if they aren't specifically designed for it and I like them. (e.g. hexblades for worshippers of Hoar and Beshaba and bear warriors as a blue bear Uthgardt prc from Complete Warrior).
I have a feeling that you are correct that many will be reprints with minor tweaks for play balance and 3.5. I may post a summary of which generic or non-realms prc's can still work well with tweaking for specific religions.

Well, I play in both Greyhawk and the Forgotten Realms, so I'll most likely purchase it.
If I can get a limited review done in time Dargoth, I'll post it here .
Id say some North American board poster will get it before us Australians |

I take it then, you're not intending to purchase the Complete Divine tome?.
Not without a review
I think its going to cover alot of things that have bee either covered in F&P or arent useful to the FR (ie Greyhawk god stats) etc
