Perhaps this is why the confusion.
You don't need to be a subscriber, just to have purchased the hardcopy version from them. Once you do that, then the pdf version becomes available to you for free personalized download. |

The planar one I might pick up because I was not extremely fond of the 3.x Manual of the Planes, but that is only because I never actually bought that book for myself. However, I already have a Draconomicon (one of the overall better 3.5 books IMO). Maybe I will look into the ones on undead and fiends too, since I do not have Libris Mortis or either of the Fiendish Codex volumes.
imo Fiendish Codex I is the best 3e core product |

Posted - 04 Aug 2008 : 19:56:38 It's not available for free. Paizo do offer many products for free on their site, such as the Players Guides to Rise of the Runelords and Curse of the Crimson Throne, the two free RPG day modules and the forthcoming Pathfinder Beta, but the Gazetteer isn't free. |

You see, that's how my luck runs. I order the books from Amazon and then read this.
Still, I'm going on holiday on Wednesday and being clever I've got the books sent to my holiday destination so I'll have something fresh to read. |

Posted - 03 Aug 2008 : 19:14:10 Thanks Brimstone, I actually have all of those. The one that I really wanted a link to is the free PDF of the Gazetteer that PDK mentions. I went to the site today and found the Gazetteer , but there was no mention of being able to download it for free. Maybe it was a promotion yesterday that ended before I learned of it...which would be weird, considering that most of Paizo's promotions seem to be ending today. |

Paizo's got it together if you ask me!
-Are you sure about that. I know if you buy it, via subscription you get a PDF Download. I also know that you can buy the PDF's seperately.
-This is a free download. Its an adventure from the Module line. You do have to "order it". Link
-This download is from the RPGDAY in June. Linky
-Then you have this one. Use the link in the first post. Link
-Also last but not least The Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Alpha PDF. way too big URL
-I found the paizo site confusing at first. Practice, practice, practice.

PDK,
Would you mind providing us with links to the various free products? I have trouble navigating the Paizo site sometimes.
Thanks, Hawkins |

Posted - 03 Aug 2008 : 13:17:32 4E has completely soured me on D&D/roleplaying and this Pathfinder stuff is so refreshing. I just orderd the Campaign Setting and the Gazatteer (spelling?) and as hard as it is to say this, it may be time to say goodbye to the realms... |

Posted - 03 Aug 2008 : 10:29:44 Thanks for the link, Uzzy.
I think I'll buy the Gazetteer. After all, nothing ventured nothing gained. Also, the general impression I get from you and the other scribes is positive. |

Posted - 02 Aug 2008 : 23:32:17 Re: The Gazetteer. It's small font, and rather light on detail, though that's deliberate. It's a good source to give to a player in a Golarion game, basically. The Campaign Setting is a much more detailed book, but it's also much more expensive.
Another thing that might interest you, Kiaran, is that Ulisses-Spiele is doing some translations of Pathfinder products into German. Link here. Though, you might prefer your RPG stuff in English. |

I bought Pathfinder #1: Burnt Offerings yesterday... I highly recommend it as a Pathfinder newbie book! It has a short intro to Golarion (and a list of 10 fun facts about goblins, such as horse hate and dog hate!)
-Get the rest of that AP as soon as possible.
-My favorite is the Skinsaw Muders.
-That is one sick dude!
-That is one Creepy House.
-Then again there is the Incestous Ogres, in Hook Mountain Massacre.
-Also Classic Monsters Revisited has more info on the Pathfinder Goblins!

Posted - 31 Jul 2008 : 07:22:09 Hmm, so I had a browse on Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.de last night for the Pathfinder Gazetteer. It only has 64 pages, which rather disappointed me somewhat. Is the font small? Are there few illustrations? I hope so as I am one of these boring old traditionalists who buy books with the intention of reading them. Also as far as campaign settings go I was exposed to the graphics of First Edition, back in the days when the artwork was at the same standard of $E map-making.
What I would like to do is to be able to actually browse the book.

My suggestions for things to buy would be Pathfinder #1: Burnt Offerings. It's a great module, and an awesome start to the Rise of the Runelords adventure path. You might also consider getting the Pathfinder Gazetteer, which is a good introduction to many of the nations.
Thanks Uzzy, I think I'll go for the Gazetteer first and take it from there. |

Posted - 30 Jul 2008 : 17:06:53 I was going to buy the Pathfinder Gazetteer, but then I found out about Worlds of Their Own, and Worlds of Their Own won. |

Posted - 30 Jul 2008 : 14:36:23 It's called Pathfinder because of the Pathfinder society that's in the setting. Think Harpers, but not too political.

Other good starting points might be Pathfinder #7: Edge of Anarchy, along with the Pathfinder: Guide to Korvosa. That's a really good module, and shows you a great city called Korvosa, along with introducing the lovely Queen Ileosa. |

I was feeling lazy, so I went to my FLGS before I saw your reply and asked: "What's the first Pathfinder thing I should buy?" He pointed towards "Pathfinder #1: Burnt Offerings," so I went ahead and bought it... reading it right now...
What a marvelous high-quality product! |
