Character
Description and History
Vesfious grew up with a pack of lizard men living in The Twilight
Marsh on the Moonsea. As he grew up he easily matched his siblings in
battle and hunting.
One day a number of the pack was attacked by wolves when the
ventured out into the open plains. Vesfious pulled out his rusty blade
provided by the clan and slaughtered the pack thus protecting the
young who would be the future of the pack.
Even though he was hornoured greatly in the pack, Vesfious wanted
more. He challenged the leader of the pack and to everyones surprise
he emerged victorious, for the leader, despite his experience was old
and slow.
With Vesfious in charge of the pack he hoped to broaden their
horizons by invading the territory of man. Vesfious needed to gain
knoledge of the tactics and power of man so he lead his pack first to
a small tower in the open planes.
As the pack approached the tower they spotted two guards at the
door, the place seemed harmless so Vesfious ordered the attack, as the
lizards men ran in the guards pulled strange weapons from their belts
(crossbows) and shot the first few lizard men down, but as more came
the guards fell easily. They smashed the doors and quickly ran into
the tower. The guards who spotted them were quickly slaughtered and as
they got to the peak of the tower a man dressed in a long red robe who
shot fire and lighting from his fingers. Many of the young ran in to
kill him hoping to gain honour amd glory among the pack, but they were
easliy killed by the red robed figure.
Vesfious pulled out his blade but before he could charge at the
stranger he was hit on the head and knocked to the floor, as he looked
up he saw a human staring down at him with a sword in his hand, the
human saw the the fear in his eyes and walked away to let Vesfious
live, from that moment something flickered inside Vesfious and his
whole way of life was about to change, he felt that from now on he
owed a favour to man.
As he looked up he saw the Lizard shaman hold forth the sacred idol
of the clan, a figurine of a lizard. As the shaman held forth the
figurine a great lizard appeared and charged at the red robed figure,
as the lizard jumped forward it sunk its teeth in to the red robed
fugure for his spells could not harm it. As the the red robed figure
was killed the battle would soon end.
Fesvious saw the man who had spared his life lying in a pool of
blood, Vesfious ran over and picked the man up and ran to a dark
corner with him. As vesfious placed the man down the mans head rested
against a stone and a secret passage opened, as the man fell inside
Vesfious followed just before the passage closed.
Once inside Vesfious tried to save the man but it was no use and he
soon died. From that day forword Vesfious vowed to protect any man he
came across. As Vesfious searched the secret room he found some
studded armour that was light and strong at the same time. He also
foung a shining ring that made his hard as stone and two short swords,
one with a red blade and another with a blue blade, both shone with
the brightest light. As he picked the blades up he found that they
felt comfortable in his hands.
As Vesfious escaped the passage he found the tower was empty of
lizard men and bounty. Soon Vesfious reached the home of his fellow
lizard men and snuck into the home of the tribe shaman. The shaman was
asleep and as Vesfious snuck up to him the shamans eyes opened
'Masssst...' the shamans sentance was'nt finished as one of Vesfious'
new blades cut his head off with ease.
Vesfious took the lizard figurine and left the camp. As he
travelled across the woods, swamps and plains he had killed countless
numbers of wild animals. Soon he came to huge city and as he was about
to enter countless numbers of armed men ran at him, he was tempted to
kill them, or at least try, but he rememberd his vow and ran into the
woods. As the days, months and years passed by, Vesfious hid in the
woods and protected countless travelers form wild animals, orcs and
other beasts and even human bandits who he decided were bad. Some
times he even summoned the beast Ghashton to help, but he always
disapeared before the men could thank him.
As he climbed the roof tops of the city at night he found that the
name of the city was Phlan and he often heard mentioned by passers by
or in taverns the tales of a mysterious lizard man, 'The Protector Of
Travellers'.
