Character
Description and History Born in Nesme near the Trollmoors, Tamsar's
parents were both Riders of Nesme, who patrolled the edges of the Trollmoors slaying
marauding monsters and once every year
burning the Trollmoors to stop the encroaching moor from taking anymore ground. During his
eleventh year his parents patrol was ambushed and slaughtered by trolls, their bodies were
never found.
Taken in by his Ageing Uncle Kalsion a former
rider and famous Ranger from years gone by Kalsion trained Tamsar in weapon-play and
woodcraft, installing a love of the countryside and a hatred of perverse creatures that
have no place in the natural ecology of nature. Tamsar would roam the Moors seeking a
measure of revenge for the death of his parents, slaying all unnatural creatures that he
came across. During one foray he came across 3 trolls acting very strangely, they were
creeping about the moor obviously following some sort of trail, following at a discreet
distance he followed them waiting for a good time to ambush them. He found the perfect
spot, leaping upon them unawares. The first troll he attacked parried his attacks, but the
sound was of sword parrying sword, the troll then asked in a melodious elven voice for a
truce. Something very strange was going on.
Suddenly the 3 trolls outlines became blurred
and in their stead stood 3 adventurers an Elven Warrior mage, a dwarven warrior, and a
smiling half elf bard. Asking them what they were doing they said they were rescuing a
female priest of Tyr who was a member of their adventuring band who had been kidnapped by
creatures of the swamp, saying that they needed all the help they could get would he
volunteer to aid them, for an equal share of any treasure found. Tamsar responded by
saying that to rescue anyone from the clutches of the creatures from the moor he would
take no money, the service would be its own reward.
The 3 friends were more than happy with this
arrangement as it meant more treasure for them. Trailing the kidnappers proved no problem
to a ranger of Tamsar's skill and they soon found themselves at a derelict castle near the
centre of the moor. Creatures were atrolling the grounds, and not just any creatures,
groups of trolls, ogres, Orcs, and bog blokes. Realising that this was the home base of a
formidable force of monsters, they decided that stealth and subterfuge was the best course
of action. Valador the elven warrior mage cast an illusion upon them that made them appear
to be trolls, they bluffed their way through the guards at the gate way and made their way
through the derelict castle, searching the ground floor they found no trace of their
missing companion, they ascended the stairs and still could not find their missing
comrade.
Quietly disposing of any opposition they
encountered, they checked the whole building finding nothing, Brion Truesong the half
elven bard suggested that they double check the ground floor to see if there were any
hidden passages going below ground, reasoning that even though built on a swamp, most
castles had a dungeon of some shape or form. Doing a double check they discovered a hidden
door behind a tattered tapestry. The stairs led down to an extensive underground catacomb.
At the foot of the stair's were two creatures of darkest legend, Drow Elves.Overcome with fury Valador dispelled
the illusion around them and attacked with berserk fury, for unknown to Tamsar Valador's
entire family had been wiped out by a drow raiding party when he was but a child. The two
drow elves were caught off guard by the sudden assault, and before the rest of the party
could join the fray Valador had slain both drow. Now realising what they were up against
they reasoned with Valador that where two drow were, there were undoubtedly more. Seeing
sense in this Valador said he would do his best rein in his temper so they could rescue
Ullestra their missing friend.
Skulking through the underground ruins they
searched every room and corridor methodically, slaying all the drow they came across.
Finally they came across a large set of double doors guarded by two fire giants, attacking
the giants they quickly dispatched them thanks to the element of surprise. Brion Truesong
cast a wraithform spell and slid beneath the double doors, clinging to the darkness he
scouted out the large ceremonial room behind the doors, quickly seeping back under the
door he related what he saw. Ullestra was bound over some foul altar ready to be
sacrificed to some dark god, he also said their were about 20 drow involved with the
ceremony, as well as 6 Fire giant guards inside.
Quickly casting several beneficial spells over
themselves the four adventurers burst through the doors, taking the entire room by
surprise. Stron the dwarven warrior launched his war hammer across the room to strike the
drow priestess about to slay Ullestra full in the head, reducing her head to a crimson
stain. The rest of the party lay about them furiously with blade and spell sending many
creatures to their deaths before they even knew what was happening.
These creatures though were no strangers to
combat and soon regrouped ready for the next onrush, a frantic melee ensued where the
adventurers were had pressed hard from all sides, unnoticed by all sides Ullestra had
managed to free herself from the bonds restraining her, quickly picking up a mace who's
owner had no use for it now, she laid about left and right with her weapon laying low a
drow mage in seconds, seeing the dire straits that her friends and their new companion
were in she invoked the power of her god and cast the most puissant spell at her disposal,
a word whose purity and power the evil creatures in the room could not stand against,
leaving them dazed and befuddled, giving the party time to recover and make head way
against the superior numbers. Tamsar fought his way to Ullestra and the two of them
together fought their way back to the others. Just as they got back to the others Tamsar
saw a drow warrior creep up on Ullestra and strike, engaged as he was he still found time
to leap at the drow, he took the stroke that was meant for Ullestra, piercing him all the
way through and pinning him to the floor. Enraged by what they saw the four companions
attacked with a renewed vigour slaying more
of the creatures, finally their numbers a fraction of what they were the monsters turned
tail and fled the room, leaving the four adventurers exhausted and Tamsar dying upon the
floor.
Carefully they removed the spear which pinned
Tamsar to the floor, the wound gushing even more, feeling his life leaving him Tamsar said
he did not mind death as it was worthwhile dying for something he believed in, rescuing a
person in need, although he did manage to say he would have fought with even more urgency
if he knew the person they were rescuing was so beautiful in face and spirit. Ullestra was
moved by his words, saying she would not let him die for so selfless an act. Tamsar though
could not hear her for he had passed out from loss of blood and was on the verge of dying,
when Ullestra prayed fervently to Tyr to revive this gallant hero who had valiantly fought
with her friends for her life even though he did not know her, Tyr heard her prayers and
granted her the healing magic to save Tamsar.
Upon waking Tamsar's first words were
"Where am I? Is this the afterlife?", Ullestra came to his bed and told him that
she had healed him of his wounds but that he stayed unconscious due to his near death
experience. They had transported him and themselves back to Nesme through Valador's
teleport spell. She told him that he had been unconscious for the better part of a week,
and that the rest of the party had rested and recuperated. She then offered him a place
amongst their adventuring group called The Company of the Drawn Blade. Tamsar said he
would be proud to join them. Ullestra said she would tell the rest of the group, she then
kissed him on the brow and went to leave the room, but Tamsar grabbed her arm and asked
her not to go, she asked what he wanted, and some what awkwardly asked her if that being a
priestess of Tyr did that mean she hadn't the time for a male companion as he heard it was
against some religious orders rules, blushing a furious red she said that she had room in
her life for a man, although she hadn't met the right man until recently.Crest fallen
Tamsar said he was sorry for causing any embarrassment, at thisUllestra laughed and said
that Tamsar was the man she had meant, at this Tamsar's heart leapt and pulled Ullestra
into a passionate embrace. Later after they had traded their life stories, they knew they
had met their soulmate and this union was true love. The rest of the party rejoiced at
this news overjoyed at the happiness the two young
lovers had bought to one another. |
