Character
Description and History
Sylvus is a bit different in that he is set up for use in a Skills
& Powers campaign. This explains some of his high ability scores,
others were just luck.
Sylvus stands aproximately five and a half feet tall and weighs
roughly 120 to 130 pounds. He is a handsome elf with long brown
hair that reaches to the center of his back, brown eyes, and a fairly
nice tan (for an Elf anyways). Sylvus is heavily muscled, a rarity
for elves, and is deceptively nimble.
Sylvus's history is quite interesting. Born to a family of Wood
Elf Rangers, Sylvus spent his earliest years learning the ways of
the Keepers of the forests. One day while wondering the forest near
their encampment, Sylvus and his Father happened upon an old Elf
who had been set upon by a large party of Orcs. The aged one seemed
badly injured and severly outnumbered so sword in hand Sylvus's
father rushed in to aid the beleaugeres Elf. Sylvus too drew forth
his daggers and waded into battle despite being a mere 14 years
old. During the course of the battle, Sylvus was rendered unconscious
and his Father was severly wounded, losing a hand and lapsing into
a coma. Halissar, the aged Elf, who the father and son had risked
their lives for, did survive and managed to defeat the orc forces.
Halissar managed to get both of his would be rescuers to their encampment
were they were treated. The healers managed to bring Sylvus back
to light but were unable to do any more for his father other than
to bandage his wounds. He would live, but he would have only one
hand and would most likely remain in a coma.
After allowing him to rest, Halissar asked Sylvus why he and his
father had risked their lives to save such an old Gold Elf. Sylvus
replied that regardless of what type of Elf Halissar was he was
still an Elf. All Elves came from the Earth, and so all Elves are
brothers and must be treated as such. Halissar was extremely impressed
with the young Elf's words and offered to his mother to raise the
boy as his own son untill the father was hale. From that day forth,
Sylvus became the son and student of Halissar SwiftBlade, protector
of the Elven Way and BladeSinger.
Sylvus grew strong both physically and mentally from the training
he received throughout the 74 years he spent with Halissar. He learned
skill with the blade as well as the arts, and was raised rich in
Elven tradition. One day word reached the pair of BladeSingers that
Sylvus' father had awakened from his long slumber and so the time
had come for Sylvus to leave Halissar and return home to visit his
father. Along the way Sylvus decided to make a quick stop in the
city of Splendors, as Waterdeep had much in the ways of provisions
and perhaps he could find a gift for his estranged father. It was
in Waterdeep that Sylvus encountered a small group of adventurers
who had fallen upon hard times. Several of the groups members had
departed the group, one had lost his soul to a soul stealing gem,
and another, an elven maid had been cursed and remained in a state
near death. Sylvus could not sit Idly by, especially when quite
possibly the soul of an Elf lay in jeopardy. And so it was that
Sylvus chose to aid this group and meet the most peculiar and and
interesting being he had ever met. Travelling with this group was
a beautiful creature from another plane, a Tiefling, oddly enough
good in spirit and deed, named Tierra whom he would grow to love.
Along with the group Sylvus recovered the soul gems in which the
souls of the adventurers had been captured and foiled a plot by
the Cult of The Dragon. From that point on Sylvus travelled along
with the other members of the group and they were inseparable.
In time Sylvus received a message that he must return to the Isle
of Evermeet once he had obtained sufficiant items of Elven origin.
Setting out on one last adventure with the Misfit Knights as the
group had grown to be called, Sylvus happened upon a long lost Elven
sword. The sword turned out to be a very powerful item which had
been wielded by one of the Unicorn Riders who fought to protect
Myth Drannor. Inside the blade resided the spirit of an Elven Warior
fallen in battle. The spirit imbued the blade with all sorts of
wonderous powers. Realizing the importance of the blade, Sylvus
decided to leave at once for the mystic Isle of the Elves. Gathering
his belongings as well as several items of value to be returned
to the Elven Homeland Sylvus departed saying goodbye to his friends
and his love with a vow to return as soon as he could. Sylvus now
resides on the Isle of Evermeet where he is in the service of the
Queen. Once his services are no longer required directly in the
Homeland, he will return to the realms where he will continue to
protect the Elven Way and recapture any lost Elven items.
