Other World Portals

The huge ornate door took all your strength to push open into the room beyond. A dull green glow eminated from within the tall chamber. Cautiously, as you entered the room, the source of the glow was revealed to you.... many strange, oval, swirling patterns lined the far wall of this place, each surrounded by tall stone pillars bearing an emblem. Suddenly you are startled! "Can I help you traveler?", speaks the deep but calming voice from behind you, you turn to see a surprisingly tall scribe looking down at you. "This is not the best means to leave Candlekeep, as it will take you far from this land, far from this world to other worlds unknown and even more dangerous, these you see before you are portals to these places.....gateways to your doom!"

This page contains brief information of other Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Campaign Settings which have been produced in the past by TSR and Wizards of the Coast. Most of these campaigns are no longer active. As well as information on the campaign setting, we have also included a link to the official web site and one other fan site for the campaign, to provide you with more information if you wish to find out more about these campaign settings.

RAVENLOFT
Ravenloft

The Ravenloft campaign originally started out as a stand-alone AD&D adventure simply called "Ravenloft". This became so popular that it began its own campaign setting in 1993. The setting for Ravenloft was based on gothic horror fantasy, being a land of darkness and evil, lands known as domains were surrounded by the mists to keep their inhabitants within. These lands were ruled by Darklords. In addition to standard AD&D rules, Ravenloft used Horror, Fear and Madness checks. TSR decided to discontinue the setting in 1999. However, the licence to produce Ravenloft was bought by White Wolf in 2001 and developed by Arthaus for use of the d20 System rules. Ravenloft is now very much alive again and has a huge fan base.

Later still, was also discontinued, the new name exsisting, once again, only in novels. The setting has now been bought by a third-party company who released the campaign book in Summer 2003.

With its release, TSR launched a new addition to its product content and many Mystara products also came with an audio CD to accompany adventures and add extra atmosphere. A sub-campaign of Mystara was the Red Steel setting, detailing lands to the west of the continent.
