Hi, in Elminster in Myth Drannor, the Srinshee asks her apprentices to listen for anyone uttering "Mythanthar", "Emmyth", or "Lord Iydril", though she doubts any remember that title, to check if anyone plots against Mythanthor.

Does anyone remember if this means Mythanthor had a full name like "Emmyth Mythanthar lydryil"? Emmyth sounds like a diminutive, a pet name, but I doubt people in Myth Drannor were calling him bedroom names while plotting his killing. Lord Iydryil, OTOH, sounds like he was last of his house or something.

Alternatively, Dril may be the reincarnation of Mythanthor?

Possibly, but not necessarily at all.

No more than Alea or Jonik.
"Emmyth Mythanthor" does sound suspiciously repetitive, however. So "Emmyth" may be a short portmanteau of his first and last name.
Either way, long ago he was young, and probably prone to (mis)adventures no less than any other talented elven mageling. He could be widely known by the nickname back then.
Or maybe it was his real name, and "Mythanthor" is a sobriquet constructed later.

As in, implies he did not step down to "House Elder", despite age and seemingly being occupied with other business? Maybe.
Or he may keep the title as a respectable formal figurehead, to give his House prestige.
Then again, noble Houses may have many different branches (see the great Starym shuffle). He may be the "Lord" as the technically legitimate successor present in Cormanthor, while the rest of his clan branches are self-contained, and just go about their business.
And so on.

I’d have to ask Ed, but I suspect that the elf in question’s name was Emmyth Iydrill but he was known by the moniker of Mythanthar.
